Guy who got divorce, is life better?Same | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/08/22 08:46 PM
Living together after the divorce: anyone doing this? How does it affect family support?Divorced in Wisconsin. I was told everything is 50-50. Did a pro-se divorce, kids grown. Split assets and debts equally. My big question was the alimony, she was SAHM for many years. We basically figured our incomes (hers less than mine) and split the difference, and then made a deal for a lump sum. But in your case, if you are both earning essentially the same money today, then I don't see where you are liable for alimony. Take these guys' advice, get a lawyer, at least to explain your options … | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/04/22 02:24 PM
I saw my ex-mother-in-law for lunch todayDude that's heavy. I'm glad that she still cares. My ex mother in law sent me a birthday card and gift last week. Totally unexpected. Called to thank her and had a nice talk, she is doing OK. Guess I wasn't sure how to proceed since my ex was the one who left, and my in laws were great to me for all those years we were married. Divorce sucks. Even afterward I have "moments." Hang in there man. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/12/21 09:44 PM
The Back and Forth…Hang in there dude. It's tough. I found a couple of good friends that would listen. Try to stay the course and take care of yourself. Everyone here will say it gets better. Doesn't feel like it now, but eventually it will. Keep on keeping on. 💪 | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/12/21 09:39 PM
How much did you end up paying your ex spouse in a divorceHonestly not sure. It was somewhat amicable, she was open to a lump sum. I think so she can go out and buy a house right away. Edit: This was pro se divorce, so no lawyer on her side telling her to take alimony for life. The judge did ask her if she knew that was an option, she said yes but accepted the lump sum instead. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/08/21 09:27 PM
How much did you end up paying your ex spouse in a divorceSplit retirements, she's getting $450k+ of that. Splitting the house proceeds 50/50, and then I'm paying a lump sum of $89k in lieu of alimony for life. 28 year marriage. Some days I think I really got reamed and other days I'm glad I won't have to pay for life. Time to get finances back on track. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/08/21 05:02 PM
Sock dayMy bro. Congratulations. 💪 Sock day was last week for me, pro se uncontested, just dropped off a bunch of her crap at her storage unit and hopefully we can get the house on the market the week after next. Here's to new beginnings 🍺 | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/06/21 03:59 AM
Good days/Bad daysHow can we not internalize it? This is a huge change and blow to our lives. I feel for you, man. I wasn't prepared for the emotional roller coaster. Sad, upset, lonely, angry, relieved, kinda happy, sad again, chill, weird... I don't know. Divorce messed us up. I can tell you that over time things tend to even out. Yeah it's a cliche but the advice here is correct, take care of yourself, exercise and eat healthy (I think the exercise is supposed to help you sleep... I slept like crap for months)… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/05/21 11:26 PM
