This was very reassuring, thank you! No intention of starting drama here :)

Thank you for the link!! It’s definitely a perspective on the “spark” that I haven’t seen before, and seems to lend itself more to the idea that love grows over time (which is what we strive for) instead of having an instant connection

I will go back and re read those parts of the handbook! I do remember some bits in there that would be relevant. Thanks!

That book was so helpful!! I’m mostly secure but with some anxious tendencies, and I agree it’s definitely related to this issue. I think I am just having a hard time distinguishing between feeling disinterested and feeling secure 😅

Ahh I’m proud of you!! You recognized your own worth and cut out a person who didn’t prioritize you properly. Keep it up, don’t lose sight of your standards and value :)

Oh my gosh beyond the obvious controlling behavior here, this is a classic beginning to an actual abusive relationship. I just read the book “why does he do that” which discusses abusive relationships in detail, and the idea that “you made me do <terrible thing>” is a very, very clear signal that your relationship is headed into abusive territory. I would argue that this is already abusive but that comment really drove it home. I’m very concerned for this person :(

Yes! Personally if it’s a bad offer I prefer to just move on instead of trying to bargain. This is really well worded and I agree!

I know. Just hard to keep myself occupied since I’m stuck inside, any tips?

Yikes there are many things I could comment on but one thing is I’m so 100% done with busted dudes thinking they can effectively neg us (@ the “you’re only 23?!” comment)

Looking at all the deflecting and finger-pointing male comments on there, I feel even more appreciative of my dad— he saw the article on WSJ about FDS and actually forwarded it to me and suggested it would help me filter out the nonsense in my dating life. Little did he know I had recently started following the subreddit! Although I don’t agree with 100% everything in the handbook, it’s been immensely helpful when it comes to enforcing my standards and not accepting anything less.

I just broke up with mine Wednesday after he kept gaslighting me and telling me I’m too sensitive for not liking his constant negging lol. Proud of both of us. Feeling a lot happier already :)

I posted my graph a few weeks ago and immediately got brigaded by incels :/ I was just kind of excited because I have a massive amount of data (43k swipes pls don’t laugh at me) and thought it would be fun to share. Ended up having to delete the post because I was getting awful comments

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
