I stick to archaeology and the human past for a reason. Working towards a post scarcity society would be quite nice but the systems at play are too tied up with preserving status quo or regressing it to a more traditional system. It's the issue of why build something when in the end it becomes something to destroy. Marx essentially needs a system in which the total sum of people are under the same pressure so that they all unite as one. Anyone in the middle state government would ultimately be the villain of society and who would want that position. Marx's theories on materialism are a foundation to modern social sciences but political theory I do not think he put out a completed argument. Real governments always cherry pick the useful parts of ideas they or that are more marketable. As per marx, the communes goal is to overtake the needs of the state, not worship it. Call it unattainable(probably not incorrect) but in the basic outline of a commune there is no state. Mental illness implies that we are a sickness to the "normal" range of human. Given that biology and history both show that we have existed and been contributing people to greater society in the way a "normal" person would(hate the ableist notion that comes with mental illness but its there) show that we are just part of the human condition. Given that there is clear middle ground where those who are androgynous find themselves able to thrive and live a happy life, there is a clear spectrum that we all inhabit.
