A reasonable belief that battery may occur. For example, getting in someone's face with your fists raised and saying "i'm going to punch you" is assault. When they punch you, that's battery.

To me, this is one of the biggest reasons why the relationship is irreconcilable. What happens in 5 or 10 years when she is again stressed with life but happens to really click with a guy at work who slowly leads her astray? She has no sense of self-responsibility and no immutable core of values that allow her to just say "no" when something or someone challenges her perception of right and wrong.

I record just about anything that may take a bad turn. I recorded my breakup with my last girlfriend, i've recorded work conversations, interactions with police (hence me breaking up with my last gf) and overall just about anything in which I may need to protect myself. It takes like two button presses on my phone.

once someone has assaulted you, or even merely makes you feel in danger of being assaulted (battery) That's interesting. Where i'm from it's the other way around. Assault is the expectation of battery.

A lot of the people in this thread banging on about "evil" and "craziness" should read your comment. She was just doing what comes naturally to her. No need to hate or look for wild explanations, just understand it, learn the signs, and don't let it happen to you.

I know a guy who's 165cm tall which is around 5'6. Goes ok at night game but where he really scores is industry events and shit like that. If you're chasing basic bitches in clubs then you have to fulfil basic needs. If height is one of those, you're shit out of luck. It's nothing to despair over though. You just need to pick up elsewhere. Get good at something, lift and dress right, frame and game and you'll have no trouble finding somewhere that you're in the top 10%.

Absolutely. There are plenty of people I was once close with that I've made the decision to move on from. It's often not even a conscious decision, but sometimes it is. A few reasons: Ongoing drug use out of youth and well into adulthood. Refusal to gain employment/manage finances - these issues often directly affected me, particularly in the case of room mates. Failure to have a spine. If I can't rely on people to have my back, it gets a little much when I'm expected to have theirs. No effort t…

This is a good summary of what a lot of young blokes will go through. It can be disappointing to break free of old habits and try and lift yourself to the next level - whether that's through education, career, fitness, income, hobbies etc. The disappointment comes via the realisation that at some point you have to make sacrifices that you are very unwilling to make, and some of those sacrifices will be people who are close to you.

The average male is mousy, self conscious, slow paced, and doesn't work out at all. This is a reflection on you, OP. You're moving in the wrong crowds. I don't want to be 20% better than shitkickers.

Could we add "eat more vegetables" as the fifth tip? You can eat a shit ton of vegetables for minimal calories and get a whole load of vitamins and minerals out if them.

Asking the time is good. But starting with a common factor is better. "These buses are either 5 minutes early or 5 minutes late", "the best thing about this grocery store is the self-checkout - I can get out of here as fast as possible", "the DJ is great but he'd be better if he knew how to be a DJ". When you have a real common factor, like a reason for being at a party or networking event, it's even easier.

Nothing will dismantle gender-based quotas faster than an equally split body determining whether they should remain. I have found in sport and in the workplace, women are far less likely to take shit from other women than men are, and far more likely to view other women as direct rivals rather than professional competitors.

I don't know if you're mentally deficient or just trolling, but like I said, it entirely depends on jurisdiction. In the vast majority of western jurisdictions, whether code or civil, assault is simply the threat of violence, coupled (as the other commenter states) with the perceived ability to carry it out.

Of course! Sorry, I don't mean to say "You're an island, you don't need anybody". What I mean to say is, you can only rely on yourself. The buck stops with you. You're 20 years old. For most of us, building yourself as a man starts at 20. I'm quite a bit older (late 20s) and still growing every day. Eventually, you need to realise that at the end of the day, there is only you. Only your beliefs, your opinion, and your outlook. The only person you can ever truly rely on is you. Once you've accepted that, the next stage is being your own hero. You don't need outside support, or external "positivity". It's all you. This is your life, your world, your unive…

I have to be honest, I feel like this is a core aspect of the problem with men in society. We move out of home too early, thinking we're top shit, and miss the advice of our fathers during college and early employment years. I used to be a huge advocate for bailing out of home the instant you graduate high school, but I will not be passing that advice onto my own son. Size is irrelevant as long as you're within one or two SDs of the mean, which you are. How many women have failed to cum due to PIV? Every woman is different - I had a gf in high school that had it stuck in her head that she could only cum once per day. Took a while to break down that mental hurdle.

I have to be honest - I think it's possible to lose abundance mentality. I have not fucked loads of girls, but during my early university years I was probably sleeping with a new girl on average every 3-4 weeks. It was a great time, and I 100% practiced abundance mentality without even caring. Now, after a few years in two different LTRs (I branch-swung to my old GF's best mate, call me a dog, but she was hotter) I find it difficult to truly create an aura of abundance mentality. Any explanation…

So I read this post, went away for a brief discussion with my girlfriend, and came back. Nothing has changed. Spent AT LEAST thirty minutes getting her to admit that males and females have physiological differences. She rabidly believes what she's saying, but she doesn't understand it. At all. Obviously, because the facts don't jibe with the narrative. How are women oppressed in education if uni admission rates were 56/44 in favour of women? etc, and so on.

Also, remind me to tell you about how the head editor of Jezebel fucks dudes behind her husband and child to her father's back. My ex's bff's sister, of course. Please tell. Are you talking about Emma Carmichael?

Man there's still loads of time in your day! I study full time, with a full load, hold down a full job, run a student club, freelance with a couple of clients under my own brand, and I'm kicking off a time-consuming startup in late June - not bragging, but if you keep pushing yourself to do more, you'll be able to. I highly recommend picking up a side project. Every person I've ever known to become truly successful did it outside of work hours. It sucks and you'll repeatedly fail and feel like y…

As a community, we're focussed on helping ourselves. If you want help, do it yourself. This is a sounding board, not a mothers meetup. You need to chill out on the defensive reaction to an internet stranger - his comments mean literally nothing. I'm going to make a wild assumption that you're younger than 25. Congratulations, over the next few years you'll come to realise that 90% of people aren't worth your time, and you'll stop taking it so personally when someone disagrees with you. Caveat - …

You aren't your job, though. It doesn't define you, it shouldn't take up the majority of your time, and it sure as shit shouldn't take up the majority of your effort - unless, of course, you're one of the lucky few who works for himself. At least you're taking steps to get something else going on. My job is the least of my concerns. I am committed to my career, and fucking great at what I do - but I only learn skills for my own benefit, not my boss's.

The same thing happened with Nikki Blacketter(?). Her boyfriend wised up, realised it was his gym and his brand making her money - and went his own way. Cue YouTube shitting all over the guy. "Fuck you for having more money than me, a better body than me, and being able to break up with a girl 10x hotter than I will ever speak to". Ah, YouTube betas - always good for a giggle.

This 100%. YOU define the goals. Build your personal brand enough and YOU can tell people when you've reached them, not the other way around. This is where the whole concept of "don't let other people define you" comes from. As I get older and more greatly involved in my areas of expertise, it becomes easier and easier to shift the goal posts to what I consider important, and others just fall into line.

24 year old checking in. Keep it up man. Study, work, business, organisations - everything I do, there's someone there saying "slow down, you don't need to 100% everything. But if you don't aim for 100%, you'll never get it. Screw living a 20% lifestyle.

Had an easy pick up in this way once. Ran into a bird at a club that I knew previously (housemate had brought her home once). I was just having a casual chat, uninterested because my housemate had already been there, when some orbiter comes up with the shits and tries to drag her away. Needless to say, he instantly turned it into a competition and she came home with me.

taharrush gamea This was the first I'd heard of this term. I googled it, and the fourth result was an apologist article from the Huff Post entitled "Neither taharrush gamea or sexism are Arab cultural practices". Yep. No sexism in Arab culture at all. Cheers, Huff Post.

That's fucked. I'm not against physical reinforcement - it has its time and place. But if your dog is doing the wrong thing because YOU failed to educate it, then that's on you. Don't hit an animal who doesn't know better.

Yeah, it really does a great job of highlighting the very real disenfranchisement of modern man. A bunch of ordinary dudes forced into cookie cutter lives with no real opportunity to act as MEN. A man needs to either create or destroy, not just go about mindlessly achieving nothing.

Is it "moving away from caveman roots" that causes this? I'd be more inclined to lay the blame at the feet of aggressive feminism. Rather than empower women, they seek to dampen the masculinity of men. In my opinion, this has two outcomes. 1, a soft society. 2, needless, dumb violence because men have no real outlet for testosterone-driven urges.

It's worse in Australia. Any aspirations for wealth or power, or basically any plans to better yourself, are scoffed at. Tall poppy syndrome is rife in this country.

Pretty sure he wasn't talking about the media in the 17th century, but rather the agenda today. Edit: I'm Australian, and there is a HUGE multicultural push here. Has been happening my whole life. I've never understood exactly why we need to place such an emphasis on bringing in foreigners, but apparently it's for "cultural" reasons or some shit. Well, I can't remember the last time I saw a decent street party or a neighbourhood barbecue, and that was once a mainstay of Aussie culture. I feel li…

Just to weigh in here: I can't remember where I read it, but a scientist/philosopher/anthropologist once produced a theory regarding the ancient Incan and Mayan societies' use of human sacrifices. Essentially, humans CRAVE an enemy. There always has to be an "us" and "them". By sacrificing someone occasionally, they produced a "them" for the remainder of society to gather together and demonise or at least view as different. Doesn't seem so barbaric when you compare it to the modern day media jer…

As an extension to this: I've learned from personal experience that what is acceptable for the big dogs is not always acceptable for the plebs. Sure it's all fine and fun to throw down shots with the CMO, but it's not that great when he brings you up in a future meeting as an example of how NOT to act.

Quite frankly, if you can't think for yourself, then you are stupid. Once you can't think for yourself, there's no point being alive. Hence why we have a lot of people just wandering about that really don't need to exist.
