It does sound like this girl might just be a bit of a dead-fish / only looking for attention. But that said I see a lot of problems with your DMing approach as well. How to message people on dating apps is a lot of personal style, but mine has generally worked very well for me, so I'll share the contrasts I see with yours. I never compliment a girl on a dating app. Not out of some misguided approach to "game" or anything like that, I just think it's a boring, typical approach. If she's hot, she …

That's kind of the point I was making, although I think you're right that there is a bit of a middle ground. Reading in particular - there's not much to show for it, but I also wouldn't call it unproductive, maybe even watching movies too. I disagree. The person you're with doesn't have to also be into it at all. In fact sometimes it's better if they're not, because it gives you something to show them, or a new world to bring them into. And I don't know how you'd even begin to quantify how many hobbies are unproductive or not, but I also disagree that there's more unproductive ones than productive. People are just more likely to have unproductive ones than productive. And just because you're not the best at it doesn't mean it's un…

Because they're unproductive hobbies. Women are attracted to hobbies that you have something to show for, something that develops you. It's attractive if you can play a girl a song, or write her a poem, or she can cheer you on as you run a marathon, or you can cook her a nice meal. What are you gonna do with videogames or reddit? Show her your rank in CoD or how much karma you have? Not a very hard concept to grasp.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
