negative effects of that have resulted from differences. Yeah. Because the "negative effects" have largely befallen women. there are other theories thay look at the benefits of how different structures hold society together. Yeah? Where are these theories? Do they come from academia, or is it just some horseshit dummies on the internet tell each other? I'm certain it's the latter. But maybe I'm wrong. I'd love it if feminists spoke out against special protections for women and special attention to their well-being THEY DO. Jesus, man. "Women are strong and capable and don't need to be treated like delicate little flowers" is practically the mantra of feminism, and has been for like 50 years. It's only on reddit that there's this weird idea that feminism's stand is "Women want everyone to give them special things and don't want any responsibility." That's the reddit strawman, not the real stan…

The #BlackLivesMatter slogan/movement is based on the idea that the rampant killings of black people by police imply a problem of black lives being valued less. That's a direct response to specific murders of black people by police and subsequent acquittal of officers. If this is true, then the fact that most of those killed are black men suggests that male lives are valued less too, don't you think? No. I don't think. Men (black and white) commit the vast majority of crimes, so the vast majorit…

I'd look to concepts like male disposability and the empathy gap, which refer to the fact that we as a culture have less concern for the well-being of men and less desire to support them when they're down in life. ... which is a result of traditional gender roles. When men fail, we're more likely to see them as bad people or flawed, while when women fail we're more likely to see them as victims who deserve our support and sympathy. ...which is a result of traditional gender roles. men's issues c…

It's not at all convincing to me that men's issues are just a result of more power being held by men than women OK, then why? Why are men less likely to be given custody of their children if it's not because women are traditionally viewed as caregivers? Why are women not drafted, if it's not because women were previously regarded as too delicate to go to war? Why are men so much less likely to be nurses or pre-school teachers if those professions weren't previously regarded as "ladies' work?"

Unfortunately feminism doesn't ask enough questions as to why those inequalities existed Of course it does! Read up on "intersectionality." Your whole post is like, "yeah, sure, all of this has been addressed for years and years." No, they should just acknowledge all the reasons behind why it happened Again, dude, this is not a critique of feminism. It's only evidence of how little you know about the topic you're discussing.

That's too broad of a question to answer. The influence of feminism has been seen through specific campaigns (suffrage, abortion rights, etc.) and also through its academic work that has literally changed the whole idea of womanhood. It was only a couple generations ago that a woman in a professional position was remarkable. Now it's not even noticed. Thank feminism.

violence is a human trait, l If so, the fact that men are responsible for the overwhelming majority of violence on earth, both now and throughout history, is indicative of violence being part of the cultural idea of "masculinity." If not, men are just inherently more violent than women. I (and feminism in general) believe the former.

Is feminism a movement for gender equality, or is it a movement for achieve gender equality only in areas where doing so will benefit women? Feminism is a movement for gender equality. If this is the case, then feminism should be working towards equality for both genders. It is. equality specifically for women The word "equal" means something. In the realm of race, the disadvantages to being white are few and far between Right. That's why it's comparable. most certainly do not pale in comparison…

The Red Pill and I don't complain about women. The Red Pill's core ideas (such as they are), based on the sub's own sidebar's recommended reading, are complaints about women. Well, if I did that with feminism, then couldn't I say the same about your ideology? You people do that shit all the time.

Why do you think explaining the most basic philosophy behind feminism is trolling? Nothing I have said is at all controversial. Feminism seeks equality between genders in a variety of ways, including dismantling existing gender roles. You do not agree with this worldview. How is that "inflammatory?" I don't know of any feminists who think that "women are more equal" than men. If they are important, and they exist, please, point me to them. If I said, 'because men and women are affected by different DNA and hormone levels starting in the womb, causing them to react in different ways to their environment, which can also change and affect them in that way', would you consider that a better answer? I know you don't like what I'm saying, but it's not hard to understand or particularly controversial. All we get is 'male tearz, grow up and get a job and MAN UP and PROTECT WOMENNNN!' This is an example of the kind of specific gender roles that Feminism has always worked to end. So are the rest of your examples. I disagree about who is "hurt worse" by rigid gender roles, but either way, the only seriously organized movement to abolish them is being mounted by Feminism. The basic framework of feminism is wrong. Feminism wants to establish equality between men and women. One of the ways this can …

A lot of these disparities are more the result of our biology and our environmental circumstances That doesn't really answer anything... beyond saying, "That's the way things are." feminism is not interested in ending gender roles. Feminists who are in favor of quotas are in favor of them for firefighters, cops and other dangerous jobs.

Where are the feminists that say women are "more equal than men?" I haven't seen them anywhere, except in reddit's imagination. I never hear "men's rights activists" complaining about the instances where men have legal or financial advantages.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/15 07:21 PM
1

They do exactly that, asking for the opportunity to be police or firefighters, etc. Plus, why would any individual fight to do an undesirable job? Feminists are in favor of women having the same choices in occupation as men, but that doesn't mean anyone is going to line up for some crappy gig.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/15 07:17 PM

I've given the general framework for feminist view of gender disparity, specifically, that a history of power imbalance between genders has resulted our current unbalanced system and any number of gender-based bad outcomes for everyone. What's your alternative theory? I've given you feminism's solution (let's work to ending gender roles) as well. What's yours?

/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/15 07:05 PM

Why you would expect feminists to focus on men's issues is really strange. It's not nearly as compelling of an argument as the ones they use. It's like expecting black people to organize anti-racism rallies around the slogan "racism hurts white people too!" Yeah, sure it does. But that's not a very compelling reason to fight against racism.

What outrage? Feminism addresses male on male violence with the general belief that dismantling traditional gender roles would result in less violence over all. (personally, I just think it would spread out the violence between the genders, but either way) I don't even get what you're talking about. You're acting like I'm having these weird emotions over the simplest shit that I barely even care about. I don't know what the "Duluth model" is. Child custody laws are certainly based on the well being of the child. When there's a dispute that's literally the only criteria used to decide custody. That judges so often award custody to women (if this is even so) is because women are traditionally regarded as care givers and nurturers. Traditional gender roles and all that.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/15 05:29 PM
-3

Every single example you've given of "men's issues" are examples of traditional gender roles ultimately being a bad idea for everyone. Feminism is against traditional gender roles. I'm not sure how you could expect feminism to do more to address "men's problems" than dismantling traditional gender roles. Like what more do you want? If you don't accept the basic framework of Feminism (that a society in which men hold most of the power hurts everyone, but hurts women worse), I can't imagine why yo…

Good examples. Men are arrested more frequently for domestic violence because traditional gender roles suggest women are less capable of violence than men. Feminism seeks and end to these kinds of gender role definitions and the resulting legal problems that come from them. Child custody laws are based only on the well being of the child, so circumstances like being "tricked" don't really play into those kinds of decisions. It's not relevant.

First off, no they weren't. Gore and Whitehouse had literally nothing to do with "geeks/gamers" at all. The last thing Whitehouse ever did was in like 1984. Also: None of these three people are at all "feminist." I want to know who the current "self-described feminist morality police" are. First off, Mein Kamf was widely read and clearly very influential. It was only intended for Hitler's followers, but it grew in popularity to the the point that, by 1939, 11 million copies had been sold. It was taken very, very seriously. It's author went on to become one of the most powerful men in the world. The SCUMM manifesto sold 400 copies upon publication. The lady who wrote it never attained any power. You getting hysterical because you can't put things into proper context doesn't require anyone else to do anything. A lone mentally unbalanced woman wrote a satirical manifesto 45 years ago that was never widely known or widely read, and nearly half a century later, a few people post a hashtag that's clearly a joke, and somehow that adds up to "Death squads?" I’ve seen it said that feminists are in the business of shaming men for their sexual preferences. Much of this is often attributed to the idea that women are attempting to force men to feel bad about who and what they are attracted to in order to make their own lives easier and enable them to secure hot, fit males as mates while not being attractive themselves. However I’m starting to wonder if this is really the case. Of course this isn't the case. Fucking reddit just makes up things that Femin…

You could look up the exact numbers really easily, but it's something like 75 percent of men who get married. Your interpretation of California's law is totally incorrect. California's "rape-by-deception" law was passed in 2013 specifically to close a legal loophole in CA's rape statutes. Understanding and sensitivity are required for good communication. Empathy, ya know? Interestingly, men were out hunting game most of the time, so the actual "managerial" aspects of tribe life -- how to allot food, when to build shelters, how to stay warm-- were left to women, which is why women make such effective civic leaders. But from a pragmatic standpoint, assuming these things will give you the upper hand when the other party is being manipulative. Also: When dudes get all weird about flirting, it puts women on edge about it. One guy with expectations after a harmless, friendly interaction, can color someone's worldview about these interactions. "If I'm nice to this guy, am I leading him on in some way? It was full of specific instructions of how to stand, how to hold your arms, when to cross your legs, etc. to make women like you. It was total malarkey, but I didn't know that. Using my newfound body language mastery, I started talking to girls at school more, and found, amazingly, that they sometimes liked talking to me. None of that had anything to do with the dumb book about body lan…

Nah, see, TRP, in practice is like: "Women don't like you because they are bad and they can't help it. So you have to trick them into thinking you're worthwhile as a person. Once you've done this, you must manipulate them to keep them interested in you. You have no moral responsibility to treat women well because women aren't actually able to make choices like people, so all interaction with them is manipulation." The real, hard-to-swallow truth is this: "Women don't like you because you are unl…

First off, you're creating a false dichotomy. There are not two groups. There is one group, The Red Pill, and there is everyone else on earth. The people you're identifying as "The Blue Pill" are almost always people who have an interest in either laughing at or arguing with people in "The Red Pill" group, so of course they don't get along. When the stance of one group is "I believe women are not fully human" and the stance of the other is "Get aloada these morons!" there's not a whole lot of co…

I always find this the greatest irony of "The Red Pill:" Your philosophy implies one will have to accept a painful truth about the world. But when you break down what that truth is, it turns out to be: "It's everyone's fault but yours!" Which is the opposite of both pain and truth.

I like how you go from "no one will give me a blowjob" to "I'm in a long term committee relationship" in two comments. Your poor girlfriend. I hope she's imaginary, for her sake. And your bullshit is not mainstream. You say the things creeps say. You're also lying. And we both know it.

You're responses are just a bunch of ad hominem. I'm a creep? My friends are losers? Nice. These aren't insults. They're observations. I know RP philosophy says it's all about accepting "hard truths," so here are some for you: Yeah. I get a distinct "creep" vibe from you. "Women should keep mens bellies full and balls empty" is the kind of thing only a creep would say. "Why won't women have a threesome with me? it's not fair!" is something else a creep would say. I do not think women like you. I…

I'm using a phrase to encompass the entire theme of dating advice given to men. You're doing a bad job, then, encompassing this advice. Because no one ever says this and no one means it. If you're actually ugly, you have to be that much more awesome to compensate. Most guys who think of themselves as ugly are not. They are not well-groomed. They have bad haircuts. They wear bad clothing. but, most importantly, they carry themselves like ugly people. They walk through the world with the idea that everyone thinks they are ugly, and then, not surprisingly, people aren't attracted to them.

It really isn't. Many ugly guys do fine with relationships. Guys can look like anything, but if they're awesome, women will like them. The problem is, it's easier to change your looks than it is to be awesome if you're terrible.

blue pill men have a fringe ideology This is bizarre. There is no "blue pill ideology." There are the few thousand internet-people who believe in "The Red Pill" and everyone else on earth. So, are there any blue pill men who post here that don't fit into one of these groups: bisexuals, homosexuals, cuckolds, drug addicts, androgynous, asexuals, persons with aspergers, persons currently suffering from mental illnesses, or non-cis gendered individuals? Right here.

Only contemporary power structures could do that, and the contemporary power structure does not hinder women in any significant way. This is such a ridiculous argument. Maybe one gender dominating the highest positions of power in all aspects of modern life says something about who has access to power in the first place. blame. We (or I) wasn't talking about blame. We're talking about morality. It's a whole different thing, and tiresome, and you need to define your terms, and I seriously seriously don't care. Are the actions of the first morally condemnable or are they on par with the sensible actions of the second? Neither's action is morally condemnable. Again, you're not talking about morality. You're talking about something else.

Yeah, you don't understand my "scale" at all. Risk assessment and morality are not the same thing. And in this case, we're talking about the moral culpability of two hypothetical people. Presumably in a romantic relationship, in which one of them takes photos and trusts the other to not distribute them. "She should have known not to trust him" removes exactly none of the moral responsibility of the person who distributes the pictures. That's not how morality works. Just as a person falsely accus…

I like that you classify your own moral beliefs as "absurdist" because you at least have that right. Are you celibate? Because the risk of human interaction is too great to shoulder? And any woman would accuse you of rape, steal from you, murder you, etc. if it increased her standing on some invisible chart or something, right?

But I thought women aren't capable of being reasonable and rational. Isn't that something that you people believe? But maybe another red pill guy can chime in? Is that representative of red pill moral philosophy? That red pill men who are falsely accused of rape deserve to go to jail? But "blue pill" men don't deserve jail for bein…

I changed my post with a different example that's dear to the red pill heart: If you have consensual sex with a woman, then she accuses you of rape, it's morally your fault for having sex with her to begin with, and you deserve the consequence of going to jail. If your wife cheats on you, then divorces you and takes all your money and your children, good: You're the one at fault morally for marrying her. Am I getting the gist of the way your morality functions?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/14 01:44 PM
3

So when someone is an asshole to me, I'm morally at fault for trusting them to begin with. Does this apply to all situations? If you have consensual sex with a woman then she accuses you of rape, morally it's your fault for having sex with her to begin with?

I question whether you have experience in journalism. No legal entity would be the first to print or publish these photographs (at least in the U.S.) because they don't own the rights to the photographs. The rights are held by the photographer until they are transferred. Once they are posted somewhere illegally, it's a different story. They can be linked to and/or hosted if it can be shown that doing so is newsworthy, which in this case, it clearly is.
