representative of mainstream feminism I'd like to know who is in your opinion, because if it's the academics like you mentioned in your last comment, I just feel you're massively wrong unfortunately. There's no way they hold as much influence over the wider scope feminist movement even combined as much as a single self claimed feminist tiktok influencer. unfortunately vocal minority I've consistently seen and heard from trans men how they're pushed out of their friend groups slowly the better th…

Not claiming it to be one. I despise modern radfem finos, I'm not at all nuanced in that. I'm calling your perspective nuanced. I'm agreeing with YOU. I'm just saying opinions like yours have no place in popular feminism today. Do you not see how radfems consistently show extremely bioessentialist views?? How they have to be convinced that trans men are women-lite for them to give a damn about them -- which is transphobic in the first place??

You can't negotiate or convince someone to be attracted to something. The norm creating the preference is a laughable notion. Plus, completing or correcting an explanation for a problem is hardly going in circles.

It actually makes sense. Men being taught "being emotional" is undesirable is downstream from the fact that women find emotional men innately disgusting and are turned off by them. So the most patriarchal men get with women, and both parents teach their sons that they should be unemotional and stoic, because the mom likes those kinds of men and the dad got results by being that kind of man. Rinse and repeat.

It feels like gaslighting. It's so contradictory to their lived experiences that it makes them angry. I've been in that place before.

Maybe start by looking at women who expect unwavering stoicism as idiots, off-putting and undesirable? Men cannot encourage or discourage women's behaviour by marking them undesirable or desirable. Women do not desire men by a LARGE margin. So they have no incentive to change their behaviour even if men find it off-putting.

Like someone else itt said. You're just handwaving it away by saying patriarchy. It's not the patriarchy that causes this. You've flipped the cause and effect. Women are innately disgusted by emotionally vulnerable men which is why the gender role of the man being "unemotional", doesn't cry etc came into effect, because that was the pattern of behaviour that most women like. Men being taught "vulnerability" is undesirable comes downstream as a result of this. Women filter for reproduction and re…

Maybe there are some feminists out there that blame the patriarchy on men, and that is a simplistic view. Most feminists, not some. I'll explain why. I think most feminist scholars would argue that the patriarchy is a system of oppression that benefits very few people. Feminist scholars are decidedly not the thought leaders of the feminist movement. That would be the outrage merchants that call themselves feminists. These people don't give a rats ass about feminist scholars, they practice a holl…

Swap most and some and you're correct. Let's see it from your perspective. Let's suppose men gatekeep relationships and not sex. I.e. only a small minority is sexually attractive enough to women to have casual sex, enough to not have an effect on the larger dating sphere. Let's then focus on the first part. How do you get in a relationship? By being sexually attractive to the other party. Ergo there is miniscule to no difference between men who get into relationships and men who have casual sex.…

Pure projection. This doesn't just fall into our laps one fine day as it does for you. The women that interact with men are rarely sexually interested in them. Forget sexually, they're not even romantically interested. There needs to be intent established before meeting. The most common way this is done is through dating apps, which are extremely superficial with high emphasis on the man's looks or capability to provide or both.

Pray tell what does a man need to have before earning a real life encounter with a woman?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/05/26 11:08 PM

Ah yes, money, height, face, baldness are not preconditions at all. Btw all of these come before meeting a man in person btw, but you don't think those are preconditions. Ok. Also, if we're talking about static representation of someone moving, they're not at all new. Paintings have existed.

There's enough subcultures in LGBT spaces that a reasonable amount of body types would be accepted somewhere or the other. Hell there's subcultures in lesbian spaces, as well as straight male spaces that accept a variety of body types. I'm deliberately avoiding calling them fetishes because these people genuinely appreciate these body types and not just for sex. Now guess which demographic doesn't have these subcultures.

The post I linked has links to the studies, but for some reason it's not a valid source to you. Might as well stop using Wikipedia then I guess.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/05/26 10:51 PM

Again with the dumbfuck "duh men women diffrunt" bullshit. You'd have a point if lesbians did not display a visual attraction towards other women. Guess what, they fucking do.

People can have rigid standards. That's their perogative. Why upset or bothered by the standards of people who you don't know or don't interact with. Might as well say water is wet and be done with it. Of course I know that's their prerogative. But the unreasonability of these standards indicate a pattern of women not being attracted to men. So you don't know any lesbians are confidentially saying that you know best about their standards? Jesus Christ. Why don't you stop pulling the Cathy Newman…
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/26 09:59 PM

No you don't, but you could maybe, you know, stop fucking lying to yourselves and to others that you're attracted to men. It's 2026, you can come out.

Do you have anything other than a "no u" for your counterargument? Lemme ask you this: If 8 out of 10 men in Netherlands are tall and 2 are short, would it be fair to say that "Netherlands is a country of tall men"? Would it be fair to say that being tall is the default in Netherlands?

It's not the having of standards that I'm questioning, it's how rigid and unreasonable they are in terms of money, height, looks etc. At some point they stop being standards and start to become excuses. Lesbians do not have unreasonable standards. I don't need to speak with any lesbians to know that, I see enough women get married to butches that look like overgrown teenagers to know that's true. Edit: edited for civil language.

Okay? Straight women have standards. Why is that a problem for y'all? "Standards" and they're just excuses for you to not date a majority of men. Which you would, if you were, you know, actually attracted to men. I'm saying this for a third time. Neither lesbians nor gay men exhibit such rigidity of standards. Tell. Me. Why. That. Is.

Yeah no I get what you were going for, you wanted to show how op is incorrect. The problem is you didn't represent the op at all it's a complete fucking strawman.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/26 09:05 PM

Yes, in general you're incorrect. Source: trust me bro. Yes, it's possible that women are prettier than men. Why? Because women are more likely to put themselves together before leaving the house. Again, despite not being put together, there is a sizeable portion of people attracted to them. What does that tell you? That's great that men don't have standards and find an unshowered woman to be attractive. That's not my point and you know it. Are you five?

And, obviously there aren't any risks for gay men either Risk is almost irrelevant, apart from biological/pregnancy risks. Demographically speaking, if you're attracted to another person, you would more than likely risk your life to be with that person. Men were hatecrimed if they were outed for being gay. Hell even today society is still homophobic. Notwithstanding the risks of stds. Despite ALL of that, they still risk their lives and live their truths. Because they're attracted to other men. …

I'm bisexual. I'm not attracted to the majority of women. Good for you. We're talking in generalities. Lesbians aren't attracted to the majority of women. The trend of "I see 10 morbillion pretty women every day but I see one handsome man every decade" begs to differ. Is it really possible that women are really thatuch more attractive/beautiful than men? Or is it that women find avg-above avg women beautiful but they only find an extreme minority of men handsome? If you're gonna say some bs abou…

You literally said nothing. This is a complete strawman. You'd have a point if the man you described fit the description of the majority of men.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/26 08:34 PM

The core of the argument is "when you claim youre attracted to a certain demographic, you don't need a metric fuckton of preconditions to actually be attracted to them." This holds true for lesbian women, gay men, straight men. Guess who it doesn't hold true for.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/26 08:27 PM

I'm beginning to think there's some truth to this however. Straight male attraction is definitely closer to the default, because even lesbians, gay men or bisexual women exhibit straight man-coded visual attraction. "Straight" women don't.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/26 08:22 PM

Because when you're attracted to a demographic, you tend to find a majority of that demographic attractive. Lesbian women, gay men, hell even bisexual women exhibit this behaviour. So it's reasonable to expect a self claimed "heterosexual" woman to find a majority of men atleast middling-attractive, regardless of whether they're random or not.

Once again men on this sub are acting like female attraction and lust must operate the same way as men's. Instead of the simple observation that men and women are different. There's significant visual attraction from men to men, from men to women, and from women to women. There's no reason I know of why visual attraction from women to men should be so low or nonexistent in comparison. "Men and women are different" is a complete nonargument. Heterosexuality means being attracted to and wanting to…

around the fact that men and women are different, and it trends that men and women sometimes experience sexuality in different ways. That's the neat part, sexuality in straight women is the outlier. Lesbian women are perfectly capable of visual arousal towards other women. So are gay men towards men. Hell you'll see even bisexual women are more visually attracted to men. The ONLY demographic that requires a whole rigmarole to justify their attraction towards their "stated preferences" is straigh…

Your way is the stupid way out. First off they never pulled the rug. Feminism was misandrist from the start. This "for men too" bs was just a recent ploy to gain some popular ground in the public eye. Almost every single significant figure in the history of feminism has based their theories, opinions and thoughts on their hatred of men and how they inherently view them as less. The feminists who got into power did everything to disenfranchise vulnerable male victims. Anyone who holds feminist be…
