It depends on what they meant by "toxic masculinity." If the podcast is otherwise sensible, they're probably using the mainstream definition. I also dislike the term because it is usually misapplied. But it does exist, and it's a bad thing for boys and men especially. I am not a father, but if I were, I would not teach my son that it's "weak" to cry or that showing genuine emotion is somehow a liability. Those are toxic beliefs that cause a myriad of psychological and adjustment issues in men. M…

I don't think anyone was offended. Thank you for the clarification!

Or cater to her every emotional need, upon demand.

Nothing you say is even remotely disturbing. This feeling is rather common, in fact, and it's not surprising that you're experiencing it right now. Ten years ago, I was in a situation even worse than yours. After running a very profitable business for 17 years, and making big money, things suddenly went against me and I lost everything. Although I was once dining in five-star restaurants, I had to go to the soup kitchen at a nearby church for lunch each day. I also thought that there was "no poi…

This is a forum for "sensitive men" who are in touch with their feelings. In this case, they are working through and processing the issues, often emotional ones, that they have with women and relationships. Many women comment here. They are treated with respect because they discuss the issues with that same respect.

I think your mistake is imagining this in the "world," as you say. That isn't going to happen. It CAN happen in your life, though. You have the power to choose who you allow in your life. Keep your eyes open for an eligible woman who "gets it" and proudly maintains an independent, self-sufficient life, even when in a relationship. Avoid liberal women no matter what you do, because they make their men miserable. If you ever do meet that special woman, maintain seperate residences for at least two…

Yes, here is an article about it: https://nationalpost.com/news/world/gabby-petito-should-have-been-cited-for-domestic-abuse-by-utah-police-review-finds

The murder of Gabby Petito was a perfect example of this. The media framed it as one of domestic violence perpetrated by a male, but the lesser reported fact was that she also hit him, and often initiated the physical contact. May she rest in peace.

I'll give it a try. I'll stand still AND smile at the same time. ;-)

Thank you for your fine post. I'm a gay guy who is kind of in the same boat, although for different reasons. One thing that got my attention: you mention the "dating scene." Personally, I look for a potential partner by going to things that interest me. I avoid venues or activities where dating and relationships are the stated objective, because I have rarely seen it work. I haven't given up, but I have stopped actively looking. I keep my eyes open, however, in my daily life just in case I meet …

The crime rate isn't too bad here, but the statistics don't capture the full picture. There are a LOT of erratic homeless on the streets who intimidate people. As for the migrants, they are not much of a problem, but there are a lot of them. Many of the Hispanic women cook at home and then bring a large cooler with about 20 lunch trays to construction sites, where they sell them for $10 each. Uninspected, unlicensed food. I spoke to the owner of a licensed Mexican food truck, and this man, who i…

It is a fact of life in my neighborhood. A lot of people talk about it. Some young women even put up videos on TikTok, etc., calling it the "sidewalk challenge." The lack of maturity is astounding. Others here suggested NPD, and they are right.

Beats me. My family is friends with a journalist who travels the globe. Her daughters have it made. University degrees, the whole bit. One just bought her own condo. And yet, when they all met at a recent graduation party, the 24-year old talked non-stop about (--drumroll--) "the Patriarchy." She bemoaned that we were "ruled by men." My younger brother disagreed with her, and it ended with her leaving the table in a huff with her nerdy boyfriend.

Agreed. And even with the reversal of Roe, it would not have been possible without Amy Coney Barrett's vote. (The decision was 6-3 on a larger issue, 5-4 to specifically throw out Roe, I think.) But these "small" facts get lost in the discussion.

I understand. I was punched in the face by a random homeless guy two years ago, and I felt the same.

I think it started with Hillary's loss in 2016. That's when I noticed it. There is resentment. However, Hillary only got 54% of the female vote, an embarassment. Why are men to blame?

I used to say it more than anyone. Then, I realized it and stopped. That's why I bring it up. I am against cussing and I hate alcohol, too. :)

I have done that. In those cases, they go around. But I don't make it a practice.

Last month, I was walking on 57th Street. I noticed a guy in his 30s was standing on the corner, watching everybody. As I was about to pass him, he noticed me. On that day, I had on my dark Ray Bans, my Hugo "BOSS" polo shirt and had my hair slicked back. After I walked by, I heard him say, "FINALLY, a real man." I was amazed. The media may not cover this subject, but everyone is talking about it, including women.

When I leave NYC, I have no problems with any females whatsoever. It's like, "Finally, normal people!" I have actually considered leaving the city because of everything you mention. In all fairness, the men have problems, too.

In my neighborhood, it is extremely common to hear the dreaded "f-word" coming from their mouths as they walk around the neighborhood. I've heard "mother -----er" on more than one occasion, too. It's actually made me cut down on my profanity by 90% with an eye on eliminating it completely!

I think you're right. I've studied NPD and it seems central here. In my case, the "ex-" friend would cry when the subject of politics arose. I'd have to take seriously a "discussion of (her) views" that was literally incoherent without a shred of rational thought. When I pointed out something that was common knowledge and contradicted her, irrespective of political beliefs, the tears would start to flow. How I don't miss dealing with THAT! Five years ago, at 54-years old, she decided she wanted …
