Your future son is lucky to have you as his dad. Most of the people reading about babies going into shock just dismiss it, along with all other scientific proof that circumcision is harmful. If you ever have half an hour of time, look for "An Elephant in the hospital" on youtube.

If your son is left intact at birth, he can get a circumcision done at any point if he so desires. He has a recourse. If you cut it and he wants to be intact, he has no way to ever get it back, it's gone for good. No recourse at all. Not really. You should take a deeper look and not just take what you read on google for granted. No major medical institution outside the US takes these claims seriously, because the US is culturally blind on this issue.

It has the benefit of not being able to be afflicted by any health complication once the amputation was done, just like any other amputation. That's about it. All of the other claimed benefits have been systematically debunked.

Were you forcefully retracted as an infant or young child? Sounds very likely to me. This could have been the cause for what you suffered through - improper care of the foreskin, not the foreskin itself. Just like any other body part, the foreskin almost never develops any problems simply by existing if you take care of it properly, this starts at a very young age.

Because it violates a babies human rights. You may have never thought about it because you were conditioned and groomed to believe for this to be perfectly normal and acceptable by your cutting culture. Can you really say that it did not negatively affect you if you have no possible frame of reference to before and after?

That is not really a good argument. It gets used by fathers who want to circumcise to get their way, if the mother does not. Better to use arguments that don't go both ways.

That argument is not very good, as it can go both ways. If the father wants to circumcise and the mother does not this is also often used by fathers as justification to get their way.

These numbers are extremely misleading, as they represent a RELATIVE risk reduction, not an ABSOLUTE risk reduction. This misleading statistic was explicitly created with the goal of getting parents to agree to genital mutilation, while at the same time ignoring or and denying every benefit the foreskin has. ​ Watch Eric Cloppers presentation "Sex and Circumcision, an American love story".
