Who do you think has access to the man in your hypothetical scenario? Is it your average Jane at the sip and paint or Paisley who's a legacy student at Vanderbilt and summers at Nantucket and who also has a trust fund Pbffr lol did not expect to see the university I graduated from in this thread

Realistically, there should be no requirement whatsoever to even state what gender any person involved in the issue is. It shouldn't matter (but, of course, it does) not sure how i stumbled on this post, but i could not agree more with your comment here. it's not even relevant when approaching a forum for advice.

you're saying being inauthentic is best for when you're just trying to get laid?

i do consider myself attractive and have been told I am by men and women of all complexions so i guess that's pretty telling. idk. i'm sure someone will downvote and say i must be an uggo or something. whatever lol. the approaches that have worked on me all had to do with making me laugh and/or making an observation that's clever and it broke the ice. this approach has worked on me irl and on dating apps alike. a simple "hello" and compliment have worked, too. if i was into the guy paying the co…

Have you tried asking her out to (ok not coffee haha) get something to eat or drink? if you're friends, why not continue to cultivate that friendship a little more until you can gauge her interest? if you're not wanting to delay, then why not tell her how you feel. i dont know if you were hoping for something outrageous and different, but just being upfront does work if there are mutual feelings. i hope that helps?

if they have something in their profile, reference that or something in their profile photo -- anything to make yourself stand out. If you're going to send a meme or GIF include a comment or greeting, too - that's worked on me!

haha, i just shared this with someone else. I was approached by a guy at the gym and i personally didn't find it creepy. i actually was impressed because he did it by complimenting me on the workout i was doing and then really politely offering to show me a better form/technique and then he segued into asking me out/for my number. it was cute (he wasn't bad looking either, but cute gesture regardless) and if he weren't 10+ years younger than me, i might've considered it.

are you getting out and about doing things you enjoy? meetups? various interest groups? i've found outside dating apps those are great organic avenues to meet people and connect with someone you may want to have a romantic relationship with. confidence goes a long way and i've found that doing things you enjoy for you and taking care of yourself all presents an attractive person for the world to see. i hope that helps?

oooh! sounds like fun! if you have more or less confirmed that some of the people on the trip are down for some hanky panky, then what's better than taking the lead on getting folks out for drinks or bringing booze to the group and seeing what happens. of course be safe, respectful blah blah, but they call alcohol a social lubricant for a reason. someone is bound to break the ice of "sexual tension" and that could be your "in" does that make sense? i hope that helps.

yeah i learned quickly back when I was first starting out on dating apps that "hi" is the worst way to get someone's attention. if they have something in their profile, reference that or something in their profile photo -- anything to make yourself stand out.

So in that case my question is what have men done that has attracted you to them? Men have had creative/fun date ideas like going to an arcade or getting food together before/after a concert, that's pretty standard stuff, though. i'd say the things that really did it for me was making me laugh. if i can laugh with a man and we crack one another up, at the very least, we're going to be friends, but if we're on a date and having that kind of connection, it's almost like foreplay for me. wittiness …

personally, i loved getting advice from men about guys i had crushes on (in school) and dated (post school), but i get it. no worries.

it's a two-way street ultimately. i'm certain of women (especially less mature) who think that there's "a game to play." personally, i'd advise not to waste time on chicks playing hard to get, but then again, maybe that's a phase everyone goes through. best of luck :)

i understand. fair enough! feel free to disregard then lol why comment? haha

i agree with this so much. it's like "i want a gentleman to be chivalrous but HEY i can do things for myself fuck you i'm a feminist and don't tell me i'm pretty that's objectifying but also i want to feel desired" -- ok, cool, but how the hell are we supposed to put that into practice? it's so confusing! it's possible for men and women to exist and complement one another in terms of strengths and weaknesses, wants and desires including (but not limited to) some inclination to adhere to traditio…

man, the wisdom of 21 year old me...sad times. i had barely started dating at that point (i went to a small private high school) and being at a big university living on campus was overwhelming (in a good way, but i was still an idiot haha). tbh, being inappropriate (use good judgement), physically harassing are generally bad ideas, but at 21 (if you're in a college setting especially), if you're mixing with coeds in classes or various interest groups, you're bound to connect with new friends and…

What are some things guys should do to show continued interest between dates, etc? Keep the dialogue open via text or messenger. If you've "advanced" to talking on the phone, even better. If you're connected on social media, i'm pretty sure everyone is guilty of and aware of "facebook stalking." You can learn a bit about one another through this and maybe in a conversation whether via text or irl you could reference something funny she posted or something you read somewhere you think she'll find…

for me, i'd say more often than not, i'm either attracted to the guy or I'm not, however the level of attraction can definitely change. I can find a guy cute and then after getting to know him and liking our chemistry and his personality he just gets even more attractive. conversely, i've met men i found really attractive who, upon opening their mouths lost my interest completely. i hope that helps!

How come when I see a pretty girl I have this overwhelming desire to tell her how pretty I think she is? From what I've heard this is usually a pretty bad way to approach, since it objectifies her immediately. Is there any connection between this impulse and what a girl wants to hear? Is it because I'm idealizing her in my head already? I'm not sure why you feel the "overwhelming desire," but my guess is it's you wanting to connect with someone you find attractive and to you, the easiest way to …

it's a mixed bag and there's a lot to unpack- too much to try and address here. of course it has impacted how women and men navigate the dating arena. i also recognize that #metoo has presented a series of issues men and women alike are not dealing with well and it's made conversations about how men and women interact with one another heated, nasty and destructive in various contexts. I'm 30. why is that the most common question so far? lol

I get to a degree it's similar to how some (or all?) guys don't want to get dating/sex advice from women in their family, but I'm just trying to be helpful. I think a woman's perspective can be helpful because i can explain what men did that attracted me to them...

hi! hmm...well, first, i'd ask what your message is and the context. if this is on a dating app and you're saying something like "Hi" or "Hey" or even "Hey what's up?" while the greeting is short and simple and in irl situations generates an exchange of some sort, it can easily get buried under a bunch of messages that all say something similar. What's the content of the message(s) you're sending that are going unanswered?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
