Why are you bringing it up when replying to me as if it's somehow relevant to what I'm saying.

I'm sorry you had trouble with this sort of thing, but I think this story is going to be almost insultingly out of tune with most self described 'incels' experiences with dating. I don't really think any of this is helpful.

Does your study extend out to groups like Incels, or is it more about TRP proper? Because I could help in the former case.

I want to find out why I'm lonely and unhappy with my life, I'm here because I don't really know of anywhere else to look.

redirect my energy into something else That's what i'm looking for, what would usually be your 'something else'. Not that I'll necessarily want to use it, but i'm just looking for inspiration for myself. For instance, there a theater near where I live where I went to see a friend of mine perform. I was in love with her at the time, but now shes moved on and found someone else. I walk past that theater every day and every time I do I'm reminded of that. I'm aware of the thought, and the trigger, …

I suppose I should of been a little more honest in my original post. I'm very familiar with intrusive thoughts, I've got a form of OCD which is pretty much just them. So about a year ago I started seeing all sorts of signs that we were living in the end times. I couldn't go five minutes without thinking about how much time we had left, or whether I could save my family etc. Before that I used to worry about whether or not I could die, or if I would just keep living on forever and ever. It took a…

understand how intrusive thoughts work, how you can recognize them, and how to manage them. personally when my thoughts get bad, once I recognize them, I gently correct myself, as if I were correcting a puppy. lead your brain to more pleasant thoughts. you deserve better from yourself. Not op here, but how do you do this? I spend almost all day thinking about this kind of stuff, what else am I meant to do?

I can't speak for everyone, but I've seen a lot of these sorts of sites and by and large I think they're all pretty much bullshit. I'm not really willing to dig through all of his articles there but I think these sorts of things are written for a totally different sort of person and in general they tend to make me far far more depressed than anything else. Thanks for trying to help though, it's appreciated.

It's very hard to specify, I find it's not too difficult to get along with other people, my only real barrier is that to impress people I feel I need to play into a role. I'm quite good at it to be honest, I recently got a job based entirely on my ability to socialise. But it's always empty, like I'm just going through motions, or playing a game rather than actually connecting with someone. I don't mean giving up more 'superficial' things, like the way I dress or how I send my time. I'm worried …

I think the problem I have with that is that I don't really believe the way I feel is unfounded. In my head the way I feel is that I'm sad because I'm lonely, and the only way to fix that is to stop being alone so much. Honestly I know better than this, I know I'm stuck in a nasty habit but rumination has become such a massive part of my life that it's really confusing for me to even think that other people don't do it (or don't do it as much) or to imagine a life without it. I have a form of OC…

And I suppose if that's all we can do then that's all we can do, but you do realize you're offering a totally negative solution right? it'll keep them away from TRP, but it won't help them solve their problem (other than stop them from making it worse). I mean that's where I'm up to, but from here on out I can't figure out my next step. which I suppose is why I find this so upsetting I feel like if we can't find a way to help them then there might be no way to help me. You asked me before what I…

I think some of the tone of my reply has been lost over text, because you seem to be getting more and more annoyed with me when for the most part I'm agreeing with you? Especially all the stuff about TRP, I'm not a big fan, I'm much more interested in how to keep people away from that sort of shit. "I'm unhappy even though i tried a few things, why not turn to a hate-filled system for manipulating women?" That's one way to interpret it, but another could be "I accept that TRP won't be a useful o…

I suppose I was just pointing out that the original question "If not TRP, then what?" still hasn't been answered. Get off the net and go live life isn't very actionable advice, the reason we turn to that stuff is that life isn't quite working for us. It was living life that got me to where I am, following my passions and living for myself hasn't turned out well, why should that change any time soon? The only reason I'm talking to you is that I don't have anywhere else to turn, hearing that no-on…

Well that's kind of the root of it there isn't it? we can snuff out as many options as we want that's the easy bit. But figuring out how to actually help people seems impossible.

Seen, but I don't really see how that answers my question to be honest?

What separates this advice from just telling people to ignore it? I agree with most of what you've said but surely you realize that this doesn't actually help us very much? The reason i'm looking for a solution is because "living life" isn't working out. I'm here because I'm afraid, to just shrug your shoulders and say 'well there's nothing anyone can do' dosen't exactly fill me with joy.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
