I don't agree with the statement that whatever male raises the child is the dad. That sounds like the sort of thing people use to force men to pay child support for children which are not theirs. The child is innocent in all this, that is true. The man may still continue to love or care for this child or he can change the relationship to something he is more comfortable with. If he chooses not to continue in the role he was tricked into, that is his right.

You should talk to the principal and demand privacy. You are entitled to the same right of privacy as any other person. If you are in the usa many states do not have common law marriage, some do. You are not okay with getting married. The only thing that is legally enforceable in marriage is that at the end someone gets paid. There is no benefit to you in getting married.
