The same is true for things like "thigh gaps" for women. If you don't have wider set hips, you are never going to get a gap no matter how much you diet. That's not even a thing. It's a bullshit idea that men don't share the same consensus on. Broad shoulders is universally attractive. Working out is never going to make you look "worse". That's selection. You will have more motivation to lift if you look good. If you have broad shoulders and narrow hips, you will have motivation to train because you know you will look good.
