If that's how you feel about it and its working for you and you wake up in the morning feeling relaxed and happy about this situation then more power to you! But if you find yourself building up resentment or anger or stress in this relationship and it's because you have a lack of security or feeling of being truly special or loved by this person then it's not serving you. Also if you ever want to bring kids into the picture it would definitely complicate things because you may still harbour con…

So you don't care if tomorrow you come home to an empty house or try call her and you never hear from her again but you do care about her? Hmm...that's an interesting dynamic, kind of reminds me of new agey hippy mentality about loving the moment and not having any attachments towards people. I think it's a lot harder to do than to say though, like if the situation ever comes where she ups and leaves you will most likely miss her and feel heartbreak and if you don't, then you didn't care about h…

I feel like you've kind of contradicted yourself there, you're saying that men as bread winners is for losers but also that a man could dump his wife and get a girlfriend who's half his age.....but then also say that young women only care about wealth and think they deserve to date a millionaire. In fairness I do think there are younger women who do tend to go for older and successful men, there are women who prize success and wealth for sure. But if that is a man's game plan, then he would need…

This comment is super insightful and makes a lot of sense, especially in American culture during the War on Terror, fear must have been a difficult thing to have looming in the background growing up. I don't really remember the world before 9/11 either but I grew up in Europe in a country without a threat of terrorism or any ties to war, so it was different for me. However, if you look back on decades before 9/11, especially the 80s and 90s, you'll see that girls and boys were also growing up wi…

My advice to you would be to wait until you are happy and confident with being you, then that way you'd know that even at your worst, you're still happy with you. Maturity means learning how to cope with the harder things in life in a way that you can be proud of. If you have to feel like you have to be on your best behaviour, then you're not being authentic and that won't last, especially with a partner. You have to get to a place where even at your craziest, you still can be proud of yourself.…

Christianity sanctioned divorce, that's where Protestantism comes from and why there are other forms of Christianity aside from Catholicism and Orthodoxy, so being 'Christian' doesn't mean you're anti-divorce. Also many reverends and other Church people get divorced too. Sometimes divorce happens and it's not to do with cheating or being abused, sometimes people just fall out of love, or go through a life changing experience where they just can't bring themselves to love their partner anymore. T…

Well who knows what women were like in the 1800s, who knows what men were like too, different times and society, fathers didn't take part in bringing up their children, black people were still mostly just slaves everywhere, most people worked in mines or factories and died at like 40. Most people were obsessed with climbing the social order too, men and women and marriages were rarely for love anyway. Maybe she was just a little more emotional than most others because she was a nurse.

Walk into any of your local bars or pubs one night, not the kind that attracts young people, the kind that attracts the local men who are in their 50s and up and look at the men who sit there, nursing pints and muttering about football or hunting. The type of men that most dads turn into, bordering on retirement if not retired, neither rich or poor, but probably closer to poor than rich. The type who as younger men, worked good honest days work and married the girl they met in school, or the nur…

That's sad, have you thought about breaking up with her and dating around? If you just care about sex, you might have a better time with multiple casual things instead of leading her on...

I've known men to get over break ups fast and leave relationships, in the form of cheating, affairs, ghosting etc. and I've known women to do the same. I've also known women to cry over an ex boyfriend for years and I've known men to still talk about a specific ex girlfriend years afterwards too. Also for most of the men in my life, their families being happy are the most meaningful goals for them, including their wives. So I would say to you to re-evaluate, ask some men over the age of 35 what …

Well a lot of Pyschological studies of veterans note that ideals around being stoic and masculine prevent them from proper therapy for ptsd, and if you look at male suicides vs female suicides you'll see a lot more males commit suicide but a lot more women access therapy and have more open emotional friendships. Also if guys are having a tough time emotionally, if they have a close female friend, a lot of them go to them for support over their male friends. Because sometimes there isn't a soluti…

Well, I guess hundreds of years of the thought of behind a good man is a good woman is wrong according to this. I think men are very emotional but not every man is able to properly communicate their feelings to their girlfriends, so maybe the disconnect is more to do with the ability to communicate as opposed to any emotional rejection from women. Like women will tell their boyfriends exactly how they feel eventually, even if it takes them time, so men often end up knowing at the very least how …

Just feels like very dramatic sex stories, also from my experience people who make themselves public in an academic context on the internet or who have reputations in academia tend to not have super TV type raunchy random sexual encounters because they are afraid of slander and having the word go around. Like they might have fetishes and like certain things, but they keep that for more committed relationships because they fear blackmail, slander, gossip etc.

So if women show vulnerability, they're manipulating men.....but if women are strong and show they don't need a man, they're feminazis who are emasculating men by making men unnecessary? What about how it's also 'natural' for men to make grand gestures and big promises to women before they have sex and then go cold after sex..... I mean if we're playing the manipulation card and biology and stereotypes, it appears both sexes have been known to do it.

I don't really believe all of this post but on the idea of 'out of your league' or dating people with impressive backgrounds, it's statistically true that the majority of people with university degrees will date and marry people with a similar educational background. It's more of a common ground thing, like how people who loves sports and fitness date other people who are also interested in those things. It's more about being relate to each other as opposed to a superiority thing. Sometimes it's…

Have you considered that showing boundaries is not the same as seeing someone as 'expendable' and it is true that all people, men and women, respect people who show respect to themselves. So you weren't just not giving a fuck, you were just showing a good level of self respect and that's how it appeared to her.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
