I got over it by changing my focus from "getting a girlfriend" to "making myself more awesome". Because you are the accretion of all of the things you have chosen to make yourself. And that fixation means that you are mistrustful of what a woman says about male depression, just because she is a woman. Women are socialized to be more able to talk about feelings. As well, women are more socialized to think that relationships should be EVERYTHING.
