Y'know, I actually did know what it was like back in high school. But high school was nine years ago. I got over it by changing my focus from "getting a girlfriend" to "making myself more awesome". Because you are the accretion of all of the things you have chosen to make yourself. This is not to de-legitimize your pain. Far from it. I just don't think that a relationship is the magic bullet you're making it out to be.

You're fixating on one part of a vast issue. And that fixation means that you are mistrustful of what a woman says about male depression, just because she is a woman. Women are socialized to be more able to talk about feelings. As well, women are more socialized to think that relationships should be EVERYTHING. So individual sensationalist articles like "Woman murders husband and gets a pass, now murders 2nd husband" get upvotes, whereas a legitimate article about the leading gendered cause of death for men (with actual statistics!) gets a mere 20 upvotes.
