a platonic social gathering? wft is this, I just want women to fuck me?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/05/23 07:40 PM

yes, that would very much be weird. as a femme with adhd, i can tell you rn that men dating over 5 years down is always (a) pathetic, (b) recipe for incompatibility.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/23 03:34 AM
2

bro, they’re not. as someone who has encountered y’all in the wild, it’s not hard to understand someone’s intentions and values. rp men almost always give themselves away first day, then i’m honest about my intentions, have my fun and leave when our paths start diverging from what he says to match me and what he actually wants.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/23 03:31 AM

exactly, the biological pressure is greater on women so the social and psychosexual pressure should shift to men. by pressuring men to be ready at the age when women are feeling the most biological and social pressure, men shoulder an equal load of the societal burden.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/23 10:01 PM

the same way you ask women to choose partners at 25, ask it because there are other more pressing factors. men being infertile or less fertile has less of a biological bearing on birth rate because they aren’t carrying the fetus.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/23 09:42 PM
2

then men should also be meeting their life partner at 25 if you want to better compel women to have children with partners that they enjoy. using women’s own preferences to have partners their age/maturity level would also mean that changing men’s preferences of younger women to women their age and improving their emotional intelligence, social development and the like would be more effective than forcing women to choose earlier. from your perspective, the biological limits of women are unmoving…

it’s actually age 35 when fertility starts to decline and even then, it’s a soft decline, not a cliff. also why do we have to sustain the current population? there’s tons of other factors like resources, wealth hoarding, and the like that would impact whether population growth is the smart move.

It proves that men may be more irresponsible with money, and as such, cannot pay in cash. This could also add on that debt gains interest, so men may not know the value of the dollar because they are more likely to take on debt.

I never said men do not have to do emotional labor, I did say that a majority of emotional labor falls to women.

bell didn’t create intersectionality, what are you on?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 02:21 PM

did you actually read for understanding or cherry pick a quote
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 02:20 PM

sure, but the majority of people are making this decision by themselves or with a mediator, who is at fault in the “battle” there? isn’t the goal 50/50 as that would probably be healthiest for most children in the situation? isn’t that true on both sides that there is incentive to bail when the other parent makes things difficult? also it’s really surprising you read both those articles in 15 minutes, are you sure you had enough time to comprehend and process everything stated?

love that you put the work in to add sources, will be using them for future convos here!
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 01:24 AM

how is that proof, when it could be affected by cultural value? also, men have a similar fertility cliff, so why isn’t that acknowledged in the same vein?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 08:06 PM
1

okay, so are you going to completely shut me down even though I do work that agrees with you?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 07:10 PM
1

okay I really can’t engage with your first point because it looks like you have a fixed position that you’re not willing to discuss further. I do though, I often talk about how men that commit sex crimes IRL have been abused in some way to normalize that behavior. I think it’s a shame that no one took care of them, and they were also failed by society but that is the case of an actual crime. I can’t punish people for saying things that are not criminal, nor do I care to police them.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 07:03 PM

this is the type of comment that makes me wonder if I can read, despite evidence to the contrary.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 06:55 PM

then I think you should definitely articulate your emotional needs, how you might appreciate the effort but don’t need certain things, and choose relationships that align with this. good luck!
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 06:49 PM

okay but could you find any value in how it came about? or how it could be improved upon? if not improved upon, why should it be disregarded?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 06:48 PM

I agree that the infantilization of women is an issue for both women and men, but I can’t agree that feminists push this message. The movement is by and for women, proving their capacity as adults. I don’t think “kill all men” rhetoric is healthy, but I have a lot of patience for people using it because I think there has to be a deeper trauma that would cause someone to think so extremely. I think killing is also a trauma for humans, so to commit and take on trauma comes from a desperate place.

/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:37 PM

thisssss, especially the last paragraph. I haven’t seen anyone in the last day actually be curious and open to learning about overlap. It’s just been one big gotcha moment.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:32 PM

dude, i can’t help your reading comprehension if you don’t want to be curious and learn about the concept. you go ahead and believe it’s not real, no difference to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:17 PM

dude, i don’t even know how to reply here to help you. you keep going with your “feminists are evil” narrative.

ruth wilson gilmore is actively for prison abolition because incarceration predominantly hurts black men. bell hooks unpacks interpersonal misogyny incredibly kindly in the will to change.

I have been working with folks on a curious, open, and honest level today, but it’s actually gotten me harassed, personally insulted, and at the very least, no reciprocation. I see why this sub is widely known as misogynistic.

thanks for actually giving me a source, unlike anyone else in this thread, I’ll look into it and get back to you! for now though, his video mentions the harm against boys as this defining motive to eschew the term, do you think people involved with men’s issues will ever be able to appeal to women and feminist audiences in the same way? by understanding their point of view and ridding themselves of unsavory terms first?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 06:00 AM

how does this align with any other historical movements

it was first coined to be a term about how employees had to perform emotion for customers, but in a relationship, it means managing the other person’s emotions and performing the labor to manage their relationships for them, including that between the parties. below are some good articles https://www.huffpost.com/entry/she-divorced-me-i-left-dishes-by-the-sink_b_9055288 https://www.harpersbazaar.com/culture/features/a12063822/emotional-labor-gender-equality/

i mean, i meant it as a lighthearted critique of how simple your messaging is and your inability to effectively communicate with an audience, but if it hurt you like that, then definitely take it in that spirit.

i was always more of a queer theory person myself, realpolitik was never my cup of tea.

because girls don’t like the lot of you
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:33 AM

Already do, now good luck with your inability to ever organize. I really hope someone gets to it soon, but looking at this forum, you’re still going to live through an age of higher completed suicide rates and the majority of the homeless population looking like you.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:23 AM
-4

then wouldn’t it stand to reason that the initial weight would also vary from man to man depending on a woman’s individual needs?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:20 AM
-3

because if foreign women have to be vulnerable to be attractive to men, it can’t be abnormally so, thus all women in the framework of misogyny are vulnerable. both ways it’s exploitation and often sex trafficking, it’s just utilizing a narrative the men in this situation already created.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:15 AM
1

and hopefully i’ll never grow up
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:06 AM
1

You can’t be offering that in good faith, the point of feminism is to fight oppression on the basis of gender wherever and whatever form it’s in, but women exert most of the labor so they can’t be expected to telepathically know how men need help with their lived experiences or how to organize men to meet their own needs.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:05 AM
1

did anyone ask for justification or explanation?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:02 AM
-8

but emotional labor is expended more often than initial planning and pursuit so it’d weigh more heavily on women over all time.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 04:01 AM
2

me either, bud
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 03:59 AM
1

could that be explained by the lost girl phenomena?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 03:52 AM
-6

then that will specifically pertain to those social skills but things like emotional labor often are expected of women, so is that still social skills affecting men more across the board?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 03:48 AM
1

as an afab neurodivergent person, I don’t think neurotypical men or women are particularly accepting of disability. I do think women, femmes, and afabs are more likely to mask well or otherwise hide their neurodivergencies. Women, femmes, and afabs often feel a societal pressure at a young age to stifle the parts of themselves that make others uncomfortable, so they’re good at it. Men on the other hand, not so much, so they’re much less covert about their symptoms and can be identified easier.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 03:46 AM
2

it can mean a range of different things, such as: willing to help with my normally super managed disability if things go sidewise, less likely to physically assault me, almost entirely unlikely to sexually assault me, treats me like a person in general.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 03:25 AM
2

no, dude, even within democracy. you have a shit understanding of how to get anything done and a horrifically myopic, self-aggrandizing view of the world.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 03:12 AM
2

Okay, I get that but I also want to see if suspending that belief will let me walk out the technical side of how organizing works. Hopefully, this either helps men, that actually have a platform to prioritize, understand how movements work or convinces men without a platform that there’s something obviously wrong.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 03:10 AM
2

because I align with historically oppressed groups. I am a racial minority and a person assigned female at birth so while I’m not always safe with white women, I’m certainly safer than I would be than with men of color, and that has been my experience.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 03:00 AM
1

what role do you think women have in gender liberation? what have men that have voiced these complaints actually done to mitigate those issues? they can’t just voice something and then an invisible group of women come in and fix it. also, they’re only staying it from their perspectives so they could certainly be biased against women or expect women to change on that direction. and i completely disagree that feminists work against gender equality at large, there just are no explicit power structu…
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 02:25 AM
1

sure, but I’d argue that the person spouting that in their everyday life and holding sexist values is more harmful than the person who recognizes the values within the person and uses those values against them.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 02:22 AM
2

this!!! also men could def organize around know your rights campaigns this way
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 01:29 AM
0

so are you going to actually organize among like minded men or use the same tired, failing strategy?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 01:27 AM
2

okay so that’s not an example of the same sentiment being put on the opposite platform and resulting in a ban. and “not all women” is insensitive and definitely not in line with feminist values but it doesn’t directly affect me so I don’t often have the extra energy and resources to explain that nuance.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 01:24 AM
3

so your narrative is “women have written a narrative about oppression where they are the victims, but they’re wrong because men are actually the victims”? I understand why you think those subs are sexist, but maybe it’s because you don’t have any foundation so women’s liberation work feels like an attack. I always try to think of the issues within my lens and see how it affects all parties and if it lines up with benefitting government, the rich, or other privileged groups at large. this also me…

tbh if you’re working with racists, you might be the bad guy
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 01:08 AM

I don’t ignore the problematic views of feminists, Im a womanist because I’m a person of color and actively criticize white feminism. Do you have any examples, parallel examples of women saying similar things, and an argument as to why those comments should be protected?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 01:05 AM
1

I’m asking as a person perceived as a woman. I have no idea and wanted to hear from all perspectives of men with varying levels of interest in organizing around gender.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:58 AM
1

wow that told me nothing about my question.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:56 AM
2

I’m saying that my understanding of your view is that conflict is costly, but to say that men have issues would be to concede that they are expending a cost in the form of these issues. I want to know how you’re quantifying suffering within these tangible issues and those that you view as more costly.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:55 AM
1

I mean, yes, in the dominant power structure/the entirety of colonialism/etc. but nothing worthwhile and appealing to move the masses urgently in the present day and age.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:54 AM
1

what’s being price fixed in this market?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:53 AM
1

Do you ever think that people use those terms here just to twist the knife for people that actually believe in those concepts? like I love men and have great relationships but if a man insults my body or is otherwise misogynistic, I’m definitely going to call him a bald man with a shrimp dick because I know that’s how to actually attack his worth within his value system.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:53 AM
1

I think you’re missing that men can be against heteropatriarchy and still understand the concept as an organizing principle, which acknowledges women’s role in gender liberation.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:50 AM
4

isn’t that just saying “wah feminism bad, we have organized away from them but done nothing”?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:49 AM
1

can you link me to any work defining it?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:47 AM
1

okay so that sounds a lot like feminism, why won’t it work hand-in-hand with feminism? is it an ideological difference somewhere else or a social inability to merge?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:47 AM
3

hoping the same, I really believe men are capable of building and maintaining community among each other, along with pioneering healing within the gender.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:46 AM
3

so the answer is no, never, and you specifically do not want it to happen.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:44 AM
2

i’ll have to think more on your first point but to the second, my thought as a womanist is that patriarchy is detrimental to all people and should be abolished. Is yours just that it is natural?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/23 12:39 AM
1

Sure, but what makes you the arbiter of what’s best for society?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:56 PM
1

sure, but what if I believe you’re suffering under your ideology? what gives me the right to impose how I view nature on you?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:46 PM
1

sure, but why force that on everyone else? even if they know exactly what you’re offering and reject it.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:41 PM
2

okay but that’s how all movements shifting power dynamics start, and it always seems impossible. so are you saying men are incapable because of a defeatist attitude?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:38 PM
1

why do you believe women are unable to do that without your help? If they believe in those values and actions, why should your values and actions be more important than theirs?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:30 PM
2

so bell hooks’ all about love is a good example, it’s a furtherance of patriarchy as a system, defines patriarchy and it’s effects, and then goes on to name how those effects interact with other happenings across history, like the growth of accessible television.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:29 PM
2

so why cooperate in a way that is also costly? what determines that cost?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:25 PM
1

I’m asking if it’s legitimate, if there’s any tangible works saying exactly what you’re saying, if it can be repeated by other men and used as an organizing principle
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:24 PM
2

so societies that have an incentive to keep men? why would they chose to keep those men instead of exploiting them? in the second case, you pose no understanding of your opponents view of patriarchy. It’s an ineffective rhetorical strategy.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:17 PM
4

…. have you ever read anything ever? saying “it’s objective that this is subjective” is oxymoron because you are assuming that that you are objective and the other is subjective. If we both hold on to the thought that subjectivity can be disposed of, then if you believe I have a subjective view, and I believe you have a subjective view, we don’t need to talk. okay, and do you have widely accepted works linking those events to matriarchy and defining matriarchy at large? circling back to paragrap…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:14 PM
1

I think it’s really sad that you don’t have hope it can happen. I’d strongly suggest just going for it, if you can and want to.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:08 PM
2

then why whine in the meantime? if it’s just going to happen eventually without any organized effort?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:06 PM
1

word, i didn’t even know about it
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:05 PM
1

theory, as in accepted literature defining it, naming the theory, etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:04 PM
3

lose to who? men? because if they can’t organize, and only can labor, then it’s not much of a society. if in this situation, women and men ally with each other, then women would still be at an advantage in their ability to organize and could easily take advantage.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 09:02 PM

“One particular thing that I use to see whether someone is bigoted is the amount of times that they either say something untrue or something that's a completely subjective reframing of reality without any other compelling reason than sexism for doing that. Additionally I look for statements they would never say to any other group of people (example: men aren't the primary victims of war because the war was started by other men). I look for statements with no proof or statements that are unprovab…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:57 PM
4

because my intent is not to establish a men’s rights group, it’s to learn about the existing men’s rights groups and their strategy. I’m just pointing to the strategy of groups like feminism, womanism, Black Lives Matter, etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:53 PM
2

yes, it is in regards to men’s rights but it has to be practical within an organizing theory. I’m just using heteropatriarchy, but is there one that you believe in and can explain? Why do you think society cares less about men than women? And I know complaint alone doesn’t work, as all liberation movements have had action to accompany them. So my original post is about whether men will be able to organize for that action.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:51 PM
2

how can you be the victim and the strongest at the same time?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:44 PM
5

what donors? what women are they supporting?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:41 PM
5

the whole second paragraph. and the same way you rejected bell hooks wholesale, I’m not reading Farrell’s work on abortions because he’s never had one.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:37 PM
7

do you believe in consent?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:34 PM
2

so you don’t actually want to have a discussion? you want to interrogate people to further your issues?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:33 PM
2

then the same can be said that equality to some feels like misandry. thus neither can exist because the other doubts the firsts existence. If men are complaining about an issue to other men, why aren’t they able to organize together?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:31 PM
1

on the theory that your view is a given, that would create a view where women are not in charge, benefitting from the system, and have no reason to want to change the system. I don’t see how that would be possible, given the existence of these women’s groups, and the tangible results they’ve achieved.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:30 PM
2

so you think women are oppressed in this dynamic? or that everyone is equal and the absence of men’s rights groups is because men don’t need anything? that men are unable to organize and thus, unable to solve those issues?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:18 PM
1

are you willing to engage in good faith or just pulling the worst facts to purposefully disagree?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:15 PM
7

why do you think otherwise?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:14 PM
3

you think the idea is questionable, but why? do you understand the reasons the idea is put forward and have an actual reason for disagreeing in good faith?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:13 PM
1

so they’re in charge because they’re clever an slick, but also inherently weaker and not causing any issues for men? there’s not an ounce of logic in that statement.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:12 PM
1

because there isn’t a counterpart under heteropatriarchy, now do you have an alternative theory you want to propose or just tell me that I’m wrong and you’re right? I’d have to have the details of your theory to actually understand and agree. You’re also intentionally missing the definition of toxic masculinity, or just not discussing in good faith.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:11 PM
3

so did you come here to have an actual, open, honest, curious dialogue about your opposition to my view? or just to browbeat me?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:08 PM
1

establishment democrats already have class branding down, and conservatives are perfecting their strategy. so in my view, you’d still fail.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:07 PM
4

what is your threshold for bigotry in any given space? does it apply to how you enact bigotry or just people you see as opponents? do you have alternatives? where are they?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:06 PM
1

yeah but among any of those characteristics exist the same power structures, so there’s no reason to exclude feminism.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:04 PM
0

it’s going to take much more than a decade, as we’ve seen with other liberation movements.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 08:03 PM
1

I meant framing as in attaching a perspective. Then are you pro-draft? because then the solution for women as oppressors would be to just stop letting men engage in war.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:58 PM
2

can you read?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:56 PM
6

sure but can you expand on those issues? I’m curious as to how you think they’re going to resolve.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:56 PM
2

okay then why have men not made those changes yet? if you believe men have all the power, why would men’s issues even exist?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:54 PM
2

wow, you actually did not read my comment for comprehension. I am talking about how to approach these issues and create coalitions, not asking to be browbeat about things I already know.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:53 PM
2

sure, but is there any actual scholarship around the term? is there widespread acceptance of the term? has there been any action from groups using the term? You can say whatever you want in a forum, but if it doesn’t exist IRL, it dies here too.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:51 PM
1

so do you not believe in anti-racism either? I believe in classism, but I also think that effective anti-classism has to include anti-sexism and anti-racism work to care for all people encompassed by it. otherwise, it’s just elevating white men, and hoping they return the favor.

so do you want to try ruth wilson gilmore or suggest another author? otherwise, you’re proving me right that men want to shoot down a lot of ideas but not labor to recommend the books, write the theory, lead the movement and work together in action.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:48 PM
1

I feel like you’re just naming the consistent axis of power present and how people will fight against movements that would end their privilege. Men would have to be able to have fruitful and respectful discourse plus actual labor to gain communication on any level
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:46 PM
3

okay, and do you think that could be an issue of heteropatriarchy because it frames women as weak and unable to help themselves, thus elevating men to more able and never needing help? the concept of the other seems really prominent here, but there’s no recognition of opposing views. also, I personally think it’s because individuals focus on the issues they experience, so women focus on women’s issues. Thus, men at large have never organized in this way because their experiences are still ongoin…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:43 PM
6

I mean it’s in the name that it’s feminism, as in by and for women. It’s not that they want female supremacy, it’s that they align by that identity to believe in that concept of gender equality and first address issues personal to their experiences. If men at large want solutions to the issues in their lives, they would have to organize for themselves or at least volunteer a great deal of labor to the leading body.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:40 PM
4

I understand you’re upset about these issues, but are you willing to engage with the idea that men have certain advantages or are systemically privileged.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:36 PM
1

who cares if it’s more along one line than the other? most feminist issues affect women of color and it’s never been a point of women of color not to help white women?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:33 PM
1

so you have an issue with the use of the term of “toxic masculinity” but has their been a men’s rights group that has actually coined an alternative? you can disagree, but you have to do the work to make the alternative happen.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:31 PM
3

I think that is happening already in the Black community working against violence against Black men, but the movement is not getting much farther because (a) Black men are still men, and would have to understand misogynoir to ally with Black women effectively, and (b) other men are invested in the existence of the police, and so the women that align with them would also be working against the movement.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:28 PM
2

why do you think that? has it been communicated to you and how so? have you thought about the fact that most liberation groups were actively worked against, but the members of those groups had to do the labor first to get eventual support and even then, they shouldered the majority of the labor for meeting their needs?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:25 PM
7

I mean, anything is possible, I want to get to the root of the reason why. Feminism started as a movement by and for women and I don’t see why women have to do the majority of labor for men’s issues if men are not actively participating and supporting the movement. It’s like hating unions but still wanting to be protected by them.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:22 PM
3

why do you think men are unable to organize?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:20 PM
2

I don’t believe that it would be directly opposite to feminism, I think there’s a lot of power that can be derived from allyship if the rising group can use the established groups values. so the belief in heteropatriarchy as a malignant force for all, and the harm imposed by the gender binary would be necessary.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:19 PM
4

so you don’t believe women would be able to build a society without the aid of men physically or that men would only have power and ability to organize after the rest of society is disabled?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:17 PM
3

who said men are necessary to rebuild? why do you believe that?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:13 PM
1

agree on the compelling issues but, a lot of men ignore women’s issues despite having relationships with women so I don’t think it’s a solid basis to build off of.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:11 PM
2

that’s exactly what I’m talking about in the post, you can’t comprehend that there has to be a trusting relationship among groups before there is critique. if you want agreement, there have to be basic concepts and structures that you can agree on as a uniting principle. building those concepts would mean actually understanding the other group, and I’d like to believe you can, but it doesn’t look like you’re open to it.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:10 PM
1

word, could not have said it better.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:04 PM
3

definitely, I can see a bunch of systemic issues for men, along gender, race, and class lines, but I don’t believe in their ability to grow as a movement to include those overlapping groups.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:03 PM
2

I mean yeah, because women of all kinds exist and work in different ways, but among like groups, it’s been pretty cohesive. I personally think movements shouldn’t be particularly cohesive because it stunts the ability to grow past a specific goal, but men’s groups have no defined goals and are actively misogynistic.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 07:02 PM
7

I think you just proved my point, you’re willing to frame women as an oppressor, but not willing to actively organize against that oppressor.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:59 PM
1

sure, but that would create the need for men’s rights groups to actually take a hard line stance against misogyny of all forms. feminists cannot support a group that actively hates them. also, tons of work around liberation defines the need to actively work towards liberation, not ask for it (framing either women or the system at large as oppressors).
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:58 PM
3

I think that goes to my point that framing your views within heteropatriarchy may be necessary, because there are rebuttals for each of these problems, and most of them point at demolishing heteropatriarchy. plus, like most oppressed groups, men would have to believe that their oppressor (women or the system at large) do not want to help them and recognize the need to organize. Also, men aren’t able to change what women look for in partners, but they can find likeminded women or stay single. tha…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:54 PM
2

sure, that makes sense, but wouldn’t men’s rights groups need a cohesive group of issues and values to go with a better media image?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:51 PM
5

🫥 I do not want to think about what that means
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:50 PM
1

are you saying that feminism as a movement needs to include more men to survive? or that it would be a necessary condition to allow for a men’s rights movement?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:48 PM
2

they are already on top, so where can they go from here?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:47 PM
0

sure, but that ignores the fact that under globalism, 1st world countries must maintain similar power dynamics in other countries to legitimize themselves and maintain control outside of those countries.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:45 PM
-1

mmm this seems to ignore the fact that power dynamics have always existed and we’re still all very much alive. maybe you mean the current state of society that depends upon heteropatriarchy but I think nature finds a way, and humans are still natural things.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:39 PM
0

I agree with you about the current state of men’s rights groups and the widespread state of current feminism, but I’d strongly suggest getting into bell hooks, ruth wilson gilmore, and other black feminists that are ahead of the widespread movement.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:34 PM
2

shhhh don’t let the redpills see this. (i do like this view though, there isn’t a need for a cohesive movement because their views are already represented largely.)
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/23 06:32 PM
2

you had me in the first part where you acknowledged patriarchy, but I think you’re proven wrong in formerly male dominated fields that lose prestige when women join. women can want that status, actively pursue it, still be denied it, and continue pursuing the field.

for the same reason you’re saying, there always has to be a top or a bottom, but this varies depending on time, so logically a man should be able to leave the suboptimal zone for any given stretch of time.

It’s not data driven, but I think this is a pretty solid history for women as sex workers, A Gender Analysis of Global Sex Work in Selling Sex in the City: A Global History of Prostitution, 1600s-2000s Data-wise, there’s not a ton on buyers, especially where it’s illegal. There’s more available on workers, but again, varies a lot depending on sample. Still, none of the studies get close to 99.9999% of buyers being men. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2576731/ https://www.vice.com/en…

you’re going to blame individuals in a minority population hooking up but not the decision of the government not to treat a health crisis because it didn’t value a minority population?

“She’s cute, but she’s like a 6 tbh. She said I’m an 8.5 to her.” Maybe it’s easy for her to connect with people and get into intimate relationships because she values individuals more than you do, she’s much less shallow. She’s also individually oriented because she leaves relationships that aren’t a good fit, while still honoring the value she sees in others.

so is a below average woman on equal footing with you across the board? or are the pools slightly unequal and so you think desirability should match instead of shared life experience, preference, lifestyle choices, income, education, etc.

I don’t think you’re arguing that in good faith as all medical abortion pills and procedures have health risks as well as actually carrying the fetus. I think I’m convinced on improving laws for male victims of rape so long as they can satisfy the legal standard in a court of law, but not a widely available paper abortion.

so starting with your first sentence, it’s both unhinged and impossible in the current world. women are allowed to surrender their child often for reasons of poverty or physical danger, outside dangers to a child. still, men don’t seek custody often so they aren’t granted custody often. to suggest that they would introduce dangers to a child they sought out, is an entirely different situation. also, at least in the US, convictions are going up for women across the board, so you’re already gettin…

answer the question, the only point it misses is being natural, but it does hit the larger point of protecting the rights of another entity and length of time.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 05:42 PM
1

so if I hooked you up to somebody to be their blood filtration system (kidneys, organs) for 9 months, and it took a toll on your body, would you consent? They’re their own entity, you’re keeping them alive, and it’s only 9 months.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 05:37 PM
1

Dude, i think you just want to be ableist to people that have been born. a fetus is not a separate entity because it is inside its parent, the only line between its intended personhood and its abortion is consent.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 05:32 PM

the law is mostly in place because women oftentimes have (unilateral) custody of the child anyways, so they are removing the child from danger. there’s no danger posed if a man doesn’t want to pay for a child he had with a woman.

here’s the last thing I’ll say: if you are in a position to put sperm in someone else’s body, you should trust them to honor your decision. your choice not to check all your bases beforehand does not affect your body, just your wallet and your time. guard both carefully if you really believe in your autonomy.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 02:33 AM

for sure, and you’d advocate for this approach to male victims of sexual violence as well, right?
/r/MensRights23/03/23 02:28 AM
-3

Currently, in some states, you go to both for bodily autonomy because bodily autonomy is no longer a right in all states. My points rebuke yours because they’re pointing out that (a) there is no enumerated right to financial autonomy that would supersede child support, (b) you’re introducing a new concept that would harm some of the men in this sub, (c) there is no line of reasoning to your argument.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 02:21 AM
-10

wow, that sounds disgusting of you. Now, the other rationales would be that she fears future abuse, she fears retaliation against any other parties, she isn’t mentally well enough to endure the stress of a trial, she just wants to move on, and many many more
/r/MensRights23/03/23 02:16 AM

sure, so if the majority of people thought the allegations weren’t false then you’d be fine with that because there’s no certainty either way and entirely depends on opinion at this point.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 02:13 AM
-6

it matters that they are different because they have to be treated differently; personally, my right to my body is much more important than control over my money. It would also put you at odds with the men in this sub who’s coparents aren’t paying appropriate child support. sure, they’re not mutually exclusive but they’re not related just because they’re based on similar concepts of autonomy. again though, you’d be at odds with the men in this sub who’s coparents aren’t properly paying support.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 02:11 AM
-15

sure, but as a policy concern, it would be a very poor choice. Like rape, domestic violence is about a loss of control over one’s self and autonomy, so continuing with the case would be extremely violating and discourage other victims from going to law enforcement.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 02:03 AM
-7

I don’t think you actually care about male rape victims because the answer to that would be creating better legal standards for all genders to prosecute their rapists. I think you just want to conflate bodily and financial autonomy, which are entirely different concepts.
/r/MensRights23/03/23 02:01 AM
1

my cock is also extremely huge. But the thing is, you’re metaphorically putting the ball (sperm) in someone else’s court (body). so while they don’t consent to be a parent, it’s because parenthood is directly in their control/body. financial autonomy is entirely different from bodily autonomy.

your question of “how did charges get brought in the first place if there was no reasonable chance that the accused would be found guilty?” is misplaced in a lot of ways. the standard for guilt is “beyond a reasonable doubt. It’s not that they did not have a reasonable chance to find him guilty, it’s that they gathered evidence that looked good at first and then it did not develop, or some evidence was destroyed/lost/inadmissible. nah, i just started as a throwaway because i didn’t think I’d like Reddit and kept it as my main.

at best, you could say Islamaphobic or racist but xenophobia is fear of immigrants. Also, if you’re going off intent over impact, you actually have no evidence that I’m either. And that out of saying that Sharia isn’t practiced there but an extreme of wahhabism is a cop out, extremists are representative of their groups, especially if they self identify as practicing Sharia law. Plus, Malala is from Swat. Last I checked, girls were being poisoned at schools in Iran so you actually got yourself t…

mmm no, I am a womanist because I’m a woman of color and my main critique of the feminist movement is it’s inability to approach race. I challenge statements by women all the time, on and off of reddit. Weird to tie it to maturity though. I have had perfectly honest intentions, but it seems you’re out of your depth. Totally cool to back out when you can’t engage meaningfully.

How would that make me xenophobic or racist? Also, under Sharia law, women wouldn’t have the right to education, as evidenced by Malala Yousafazi.

still, by saying that women have more rights, that would assume that women have the same amount of rights as men, when that simply isn’t true. You also advocate for Sharia law in Mexico from your post history. Weirdo.

so that didn’t address all of the “rights” you named or whether you actually experience them, but I’ll just go into how your comment here fails to name an enumerated right. That paper is not particularly great as a source. It’s been seen a lot but isn’t cited often nor are there other bodies of work saying the same thing. The author isn’t naming an enumerated right, she’s naming a failure of the applied law. That is subject to change with the evolution of law as there is no underlying right or p…

what other markers of fascism can you find in the feminist movement?

can you name those places? are you actually in those places and affected by those policies? are those enumerated rights? or just lived conditions that are subject to change?

While I understand your frustration in not being able to become a parent, it seems like you only wanted to obtain a child. I’ve seen this a lot with the LGBTQIA+ community, and it speaks to the problem with the adoption industry: the well-being of a child should always be put first, but with enough money and resources, anyone can obtain a child. Parenthood isn’t accessible to everyone, that’s just a fact. It is possible to get involved in your community to assist other people struggling with par…

It’s not a valid issue because there isn’t a real world answer. Sex is commodified on the basis that women are the limiting factor, and male supply is in abundance. The tangible solution you’re seeking is that women are forced to bring down their value and make themselves more accessible. No one in their right mind is going to do that, like making Tesla’s cheaper for no reason other than you want more people to have them. The converse is organizing a sex strike of men, which you may not even con…

I’m going to get downvoted by the users in this sub but I hope you see this, OP. You’re not wrong in seeing that men are often victim blamed after assault, and it’s an awful view of men. I am so sorry that you were made fun of in class, and I strongly advise you to go to your parents and the school’s admin to make sure this doesn’t happen again. While that shouldn’t be on you to change how your school responds and ensure your safety, the most important thing here is that you are protected. I don…

wow this really triggered you. you entirely missed the boat on seeing my perspective on the collateral issue that you brought up. also, while I follow your logic that my not applying innocent until proven guilty due to the fact that it isn’t the country’s standard would seem like I agree with any country’s standard, it’s a bit too broad to hold water. my logic is actually that applying American legal concepts just isn’t appropriate here because the crime is not in America, with no directive on h…

I’m a womanist, not a feminist, it’s a school of thought that explores the intersection of race and gender. Now, can you answer my questions about why you didn’t equally apply legal terms?
/r/MensRights22/03/23 03:57 AM

Would you treat me differently if I was? Also, do you see how you’re latching on to an ad hominem attack instead of addressing the fact that I’m correct on the legal standard between countries, and that you were prejudiced in not mentioning the publications in joinder with Amber Heard?
/r/MensRights22/03/23 03:28 AM

why would it matter if I’m a feminist? I don’t care for it but I can use the two cases as examples of how law differs from country to country. She also partially won in the American case, I just didn’t mention that because it isn’t illustrative of the different standards for defamation law. Did you also mention whether the Washington Post joined as a defendant in the American case?
/r/MensRights22/03/23 03:22 AM

Innocent until proven guilty is an American concept, he’s in Romanian jail. their standard is similar, but he hasn’t been tried yet so we don’t know yet. I don’t care for the Amber Heard trial, but she did win in the U.K., also based on different legal concepts.

“I remember my wife often saying how exhausting it was for her to have to tell me what to do all the time. It’s why the sexiest thing a man can say to his partner is ‘I got this,’ and then take care of whatever needs taken care of. I always reasoned: ‘If you just tell me what you want me to do, I’ll gladly do it.’ But she didn’t want to be my mother. She wanted to be my partner, and she wanted me to apply all of my intelligence and learning capabilities to the logistics of managing our lives and…

for sure, but that would be true for both genders. my understanding is that toxic masculinity is expressed because it is socially acceptable for men to act in certain ways. is that your understanding?

it’s almost like there are social cues to tell you when to go, like a stoplight. it would be stupid to just let an intersection go all at once, but if you take a look at the signs, like asking mutual friends if they think it’s a good idea, or investing time into a relationship to be able to accurately read the woman’s comfort with certain ideas, then it gets a lot safer and easier to navigate.

why don’t you create a resource for men to talk about what to do? it sounds like there’s a lot of feedback out there on what is unwelcome, so it’s not that you don’t have the data. you just have to pull together the resources and labor.
