It's still ending. Her thoughts and feelings on what you do now stopped mattering when you split up.

The thing with divorce is that it doesn't matter if both people want it. It only takes one for it to happen and it sounds like she does. What you need to do now is start worrying about you and your future. Don't worry about making things fair. Don't worry about her future. The person you are getting divorced from is throwing away your entire family life and everything you've ever worked for. You're just watching out for yourself because this person obviously isn't.

No, your ex who ended things with doesn't like the woman you're involved with now. Oh well.

My wife would constantly make jokes about dumb stuff that I'd done. At one point when things were falling apart, she started going on about a dumb joke where I said I was the smart because I got a better grade on a test in college. We were in our mid 40s and she was still upset because I made a joke about doing better on a test. That's it. That's the one time where I said something about being smarter than her.

Yeah, she's not even saying that she did anything wrong. The entire problem is you and your feelings. There's no issue at all with who or what caused those feelings. It's entirely you.

You should be feeling whatever you're feeling. This is no right or wrong way to do this. You do what you gotta do to make it through the day.

Want to hear the horrible thing that I said that she carried around for over 20 years? We met in college. We were engaged at this point too. At one point we were taking this economics class. It was one of those classes that everybody had to take and almost nobody ever did good in it. The professor would actually tell people who had very many questions to just go to the study groups that his grad students ran for people in that class. For some reason, I just had a knack for all that and could und…

She feels people are out to get her, attacking her laughing at her. Why does she think this? Because she laughs at others, attacks others, and judges others. So, of course, they must do the same to her. When things were falling apart with my ex, she brought up some stupid joke that I obviously didn't mean about being smarter than her. In over 20 years, that's the one time I ever did something like that and she held onto it for that long. This is the same woman who would make jokes about me doing…

My ex chose to flat out lie to me multiple times about a guy she worked with and how much those two were doing outside of work. I got mad when I found out about it and she chose to file for divorce. Those were her choices that I literally begged her to make but she did anyway knowing how much it would wreck me. She chose to cut off almost all contact and never checked on me once when she said she needed time alone to think. She did, however, chose to call him multiple times during that period. I…

I'm a controlling monster. I was a controlling jerk because I got mad that she lied to me about how much time she was spending with a guy at work when she had totally forgotten and blown stuff off that was important to me because "it's just not that important to" her.

There's a saying in the medical field. "Don't go chasing zebras." In other words, if you hear hoof beats and snorting, it's probably a horse. The simplest and easiest option is usually the right one, even if there are things that are a little off.

If she won't come clean then ask her to do a polygraph test. I don't think that's unreasonable given the context. Congratulations!!! You have just won the award for the most absurd thing I've ever read on here. Why would she ever even consider doing that? Even hinting at that is insanely pointless. Not only that but those things have been proven again and again to be completely worthless because the results can be faked so incredibly easy. If you stampede directly to divorce you could be painted…

Women tend to consume social media more than men, so they are being influenced by these forces. While women may spend MORE time on social media, men do too. That means we are being influenced too, even if it is to a lesser degree.

That term gets thrown around by men and women alike. It's gotten to the point that anytime someone does something for themselves and not the other person, they get labeled that and men do it too. Yes, we all have narcissistic qualities. Everyone does. That's part of human nature. Just because you have some of those qualities, that doesn't mean you are one.

Any downvotes weren't from me and I have no clue where they came from or why. As for songs and how they hit you, don't even get me started. Without getting into long and boring details, I've got a mental condition (I say condition and not disorder because nobody who has it ever wants it to go away) that makes music hit me in ways you can't even imagine. My brain is literally physically wired differently than other people's.

I'm not making a single excuse and fully admit my mistakes where I've made them. I'm only human and I'm a goddamned man. I may cry some, but those times are coming less and less. I'm to the point that I'm pissed off and working to make the changes that need to be made in myself. I know the life that I want and I'm working to do what I need to do so I can build it for me, not someone else. Thanks again brother!!!

You're mourning a person who is already gone. We all have ideas of what life is going to be like when we get married. The lucky people actually get to live that life. The rest of us, not so much. The woman you married is gone. Nobody ever divorces the person they married. She's been replaced with someone you can't recognize. That sucks. That really fucking sucks and you're surrounded by men who have been in your shoes here. Learn from our mistakes because we've made a lot of them. One of those m…

You're not going to win a medal for friendliest divorce. You may, however, lose your shirt. At the very least, have one look over your stuff for you to make sure you're getting a fair deal. As nice as she may be right now, she's looking out for her best interests, not yours. You need to do the same.

she grows more bitter and angry as her life only gets harder and not easier. Ha! That sounds like my ex. Who cares about being nice or amicable? Do you think you're going to win a medal for the best divorce? This woman is in your past. Take all the time and effort you put into the relationship and put it into you. Seriously, if she cared about you half as much as you care about her then she wouldn't be dating someone right in front of you. Being angry about that is perfectly normal. Anger is a gift. And so are you. This is a post about a man coming through their divorce and doing well at it. I wasn't doing it to brag. No need for me to question. I know exactly why. I spent 20 years being the only parent who ever set any rules whatsoever. Her older brother has 3 kids and he was the same way with them. 2 of them are in jail and I have no clue how the third isn't. I watched them and how they turned out. I didn't want my kids to end up the same way. Not going to school? "Well he's upset today." One of my friends was crashing at our place after a concert and the kid stole their pain pills. My kids weren't kids when this happened. Not only that, but seriously, read the comments in this sub. Almost every man here would take their kids full time if they could. They fight for custody as much as they do because they want their kids in their lives but the courts so often favor the mom so stop playing the victim when you get exactly what you want. In addition to that, women are the ones that file for divorce 70% of the time (and it's even higher for educated women). Go watch videos on al…

Also, sometimes you just have to let your kids make their own mistakes. It's how they learn. If nothing else, they're getting to see what happens when you go to school, work hard, and take responsibility for your own life with me and also what happens if you don't with their mom.

Once my ex said she wanted to be my ex, I stopped caring about her. I'd carried that deadweight for way too long and she doesn't want my help. My kids choose to live with her. I've made it clear that they are free to come live with me and that I'd love to have them. Not only that, but while they are my kids, they're grown adults who are free to make whatever choices they want. /r/Divorce_Men07/05/24 12:38 AM

Not having red flags should be where you start, not a big selling point. Not having red flags is for when you need a car to get to work every day. Sure, it's not great or anything, but it'll get you there without any problems. A Toyota Carolla will perform that function just fine. You won't really be let down by it but you won't have any fun with it either. Go for the Lexus.

I've been the work husband before. Not a thing ever happened. She even became friends with my wife and they'd trade stories about me. That's not financial abuse. She has a very well paying job and is able to pay her bills. Why should she bother working more, especially when she has a 3 year old child? I'm sorry your job doesn't pay nearly as well but I'm going to guess that you didn't have to work nearly as long or hard to get it. That's one thing I've definitely learned over the years. Back when I was younger I'd have a thing for a woman I really liked, be friends with her, wait a stupid amount of time, and eventually make my move. Women I wasn't as wild about I'd take my shot pretty fast. Now I've learned to just for it with all of them. I don't want to waste months slowly working up to it.

No words of advice e for to< but thank you for sharing this with us. Everyone here is super supportive but it gets depressing hearing about how much people's lives are now that they're divorced. I've tried what I could and I'm still stuck on her. It's comforting to hear I'm not not n only one.

First of all. Stop paying her debts. Tell her you only pay debts of people.you have a connection with.

The best I can tell ypu is get medicated. It won't solve your pronlems bit it can help get your mind where it should be. I have no doubt I would have killed myself if I wasn't on them.

Back when we were just separated and she hadn't filed the 25 year anniversary of when we met came up and i sent her flowers to recognize the occasion. How'd it turn out? I spent $70 and nothing changed. She didn't even acknowledge them. If I'd just burned the money it would have at least kept me warm.

I don't want to inflict me on another woman again. As for going and doing stuff I don't want.to do, that comes in 2 different types for me. There are things I actively dislike and things i may not like but I don't dislike either. If the person I'm with wants me to go do something I don't actively dislike but just don't don't love, I'll still probably go do it and enjoy myself anyway just because I like being around that person. It's more who I'm with that what I'm doing that makes things fun for…

I love the group I go to. It is held in a church but the entire time I've gone there i haven't been preached to or told to to pray about my problems once. Ours starts off at 5:00 pm in a larger group where the leaders talk about what the group is and how it works to newbies. They do have a collection plate up front but we are told to only give if we can really afford it because they know how draining a divorce could be and they don't want to be a burden on us. After that we break off into smalle…

We still feel sad because we still have that ex shaped hole in our lives. We spent a lot of time and effort to make that hole that was shaped just right for them. When they leave that holenis stoll there. We then b very to fill that hole with other stuff and that just sucks.

When people get married they do so for life. You put all this time and effort into a relationship thinking you'll last until you die. Anything short of that is less than ideal and viewed as wasted, especially when it's thrown away for another person.
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/22 10:19 PM

Women go into marriage thinking they'll be able to change her husband. Men go into marriage thinking their wives will never chsnge.

Hang in there brother. While I'm not you, I can really relate to the crying your eyes out and not knowing what to do next. It's hard and there really aren't any good answers. When things are at their worst just focus on making it minute to minute until I start feeling amlittle.better.

Listen to this man when he says pull her phone records. My wife was having an emotional affair and tried to play his texts off as a one time thing. My best friend and my sister kept saying it was more than that and to pull her records. I finally did just to prove them wrong. They were right. She had started going for walks which I thought were good for her to get some exercise and she said it was nice to get some quiet alone time.
