Animal lives don't matter as much as a human life. Yes, but why do you think this is the case? I'm a shameless "speciesist" You appear to be implying that you think humans are more worthy of consideration simply because of the fact of belonging to the species Homo sapiens. Discriminating based on which species you belong to seems just as arbitrary as discriminating based on which race or gender you belong to. If we ever found beings of an alien species who are just as intelligent as us, I don't …

But presumably you think that a food preference and a clothing preference aren't good justifications to ending a human's life. Why do you think these become good justifications in the case of an animal?

But you presumably believe that there should be a good enough justification to ending an animal's life? For example, you probably think it is wrong for a person to go around killing street dogs just because they like to do it.

I'm only purple pill but veganism strikes me as ethically ridiculous. Its based on the idea that animals and humans are morally equivalent It's not based on the idea that humans and animals are equals, it's based on the idea that a human's preference to eat a particular type of food doesn't justify ending an animal's life. We're comparing a human's food preference vs an animal's life here, not a human's life vs an animal's life.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
