Not really. Social conditioning can change your emotions quite a bit! Thats ehy different culture have different emotions around the same thing. If you go to middle east, women wearing bikini would be shocking, but in US it will be normal. If you go to japan using toilet paper would invoke emotions of disgust, whereas in US its normal. If you go to middle east a woman who se dated 2-3 men would be looked down upon and would evoke emotions of disgust and hate, but in US its normal. Please think b…

So the sole reason for your exclusivity is diseases. Makes sense.

Yeah, you can clean that stuff right after sex. Especially easy if you're using protection. Please dont walk around without cleaning yourself. I can smell you all the way from here. You're welcome.

The STD part can be said also about casual dating. Its not exclusive problem to non monogamous ppl. And it needs to be handled with questions, test results, protection and all those things, in casualdatin as well as ENM. You are giving all these reasons, but you did engage in casual dating, didnt you? So this is not the sole reason for sexual exclusivity. So - what is?

All the chest beating "i am enough, i am enough!", and exhibiting jealousy and control over your partner to not sleep with someone else, is making you look very secure bud. If you were truly secure, you d be like, sure you re free to sleep around, and the partner would still decide not to do that coz they are truly happy with you.

Thats good enough reason, that you dont support. But OP is asking deeper question, why dont you support?

It takes two ppl to have sex. If you're not gonna use condom, dont have sex. So that solves that problem. So we just solved your problem of "ooh stds!", Solved! Next! Got any other point bud?

Your self contraction is mind boggling. The capacity you have to contradict the first part of the same sentence is amazing. "I am not comparing -- but they are similar"?!! 😂 lol I think it takes a very damaged person to continuously seek out validation through others while already in a relationship. Why? You are simply projecting. Maybe you are damaged, and you seek validation through sex, but not everyone is like that. Some ppl want to have romantic fulfilling experience, and not validation. Wh…

So which emotion is evolution and which one is social conditioning? You can never truly know. What OP is asking is whats the logic behind guarding your sexual partner, you said its evolutionary emotion, which is not true. So whats the logic for sexual exclusivity? Seems to me its only social conditioning, and living in disney fantasy land, coz its easy to prove its not evolution.

Its true, some ppl use poly for that kinda reason same as some ppl use mono relationship to patch their insecurities. But its also true that there are healthy mono relationships and healthy poly relationships, where you are not scared that you wont be 'satisfied' with one relationship, but more like, you want to enhance and embellish your life further in a healthy manner respecting everyone in the relationship.

'his attention' is also on his job, his friends, his hobbies. You are not the sole object of his attention. So you are starting off with a wrong premise. Funny how blatantly wrong it is, and u dont see it. So along eith all the hobbies he has, why not if he fucked someone on the side? You find fucking side person sign of no investment? Why? Where is that idea coming from? Many ppl think fucking only them is sign of investment and then later to realize that its not true. So maybe sleeping with on…

So you are insecure? You are not enough in all way. Nobody is. That doesnt stop your partner from loving you. Sounds like a you problem. Patching your insecurity with monogamy to feel better about yourself.

Wow Comparing sex with an consenting adult to pedophilia?! "Controling our lowest instincts"? So you are saying sexual insticts are lowest? Then why fulfil that lowest instict with your partner? Sounds like the religious bullshit brainwashing of 'sex is sin' You speak with too much authority but without any substance to back yourself up. This comment belongs in r/confidentlyincorrect

I know plenty of bio ppl who abuse their kids, neglect their kids. Whereas plenty of step parents are lovely. The 'tend to' has no factual basis than your emotions.

So dont be in a relationship with someone you dont trust to not use protection and get tested regularly. Seriously, even if you are monogamous, dont get in a relationship with someone who you dont trust.

This is a great answer and i think the right answer. If ppl had money, they d be fucking around no issues.

No, humans did not evolve with sexual exclusivity. There are many studies on it. Monogamy is in fact novel, and very new. Like 2500 years new, out of millennials of evolution. Thats why married ppl have urges to fuck other ppl. The urge comes from the evolution. Just like urge to eat food. Evolution. Sexual jealousy? I d say sexual promiscuity increases reproductive success more!!

OP dint ask about partners. Just sexual exclusivity. You do get free time from your partner dont you? Do they? Are you suffocating them by demanding all their time?? Is that why your ex is ex? You do have free time, and op is asking, whats wrong if you end up fucking someone during that time.

'what if they got pregnant'?? That question could be asked for casual dating too. 50% of US does casual relationship and have solved that problem their own way. You can know the person. Why do you have to not know the person? It could be someone you know through work, or your friend. Do you not have friends??

OP never asked about poly. Just sexual exclusivity. Plenty of ppl who have 'real job' have plenty of free time on their hand. Rest of the things can be figured out through discussion. And if you are referring to law coming in picture in Monogamous relationship, isnt the issue really about forcing yourslef in a relationship when you dint want to. So in a way consequence of monogamy itself.
