2	The hyper-focus on online dating/looks by men on reddit is because they are socially anxious , bad at flirting/game/socializing and have small social circles with mostly men. About tinder: women will also take into account the VIBE your pictures give off. Like if you only have 1 or 2 that’s kinda suspicious tbh like are you real? But to blame that on the ideology of feminism itself is ludicrous. Part of feminism is breaking down gender roles - roles which (wrongly) imagine men as incapable of being domestic abuse victims. 1	Why would people put a high priority on looks when searching for a long term relationship? Yeah I know it goes both ways, that’s why I mentioned Hairspray - the guy was the hot prize in that. Shrek is a great example of an exception and the industry is following suit more and more. That’s actually the exception I thought of when writing the comment bc that’s why I love it so much. But the problem with both of those is that the ‘hot’ person - Belle and the love interest in high school movies - is the “reward” for a good personality. Like don’t worry ur ugly u have a great personality which means u can still get someone hot. So being hot is still seen as something to look for in others. I haven’t seen Naruto so can’t comment on that but if Naruto is ‘hot’ then it follows the same vein. I think it is partly because of the way we are told to find our “Prince Charming” or “perfect woman” from childhood - and these characters are always depicted as aesthetically beautiful, even with more emphasis on that than their personalities. So we are taught from a young age to highly value physical beauty in a romantic partner.
