However, I think the issue was more an uncertainty/lack of confidence with my pulling ability than a desire to preserve whatever view I had of this ability. With each girl, I would initially consider them to be borderline or fully out of my league. Once I closed or knew I could close, I think my perceived "league" was subconsciously redefined.
