Honestly embrace that you’re a leader and pick quieter guys than you. Opposites attract - similar is fun for a night but it doesn’t work long term

After only - and small talk is enough, just keep it casual as you’ll see them again. Please don’t tell them they’re cute!

On the positive side, this experience will show you who your actual friends are. People you feel comfortable seeing are good friends, and the others are not (not to say they’re not friends but likely fair weather friends who you’d rather not be in a position of weakness with). Regarding work, you’re not going to be your best self / put adequate time into finding the right job if you’re overworked in a job you don’t see yourself doing long term. My advice (having been there once at the same age):…

Learning to be comfortable talking to strangers - literally just talk to everyone and you’ll see it’s not a big deal

The key is not having the attitude of trying to pick them up - it will seem forced and they’ll notice. Have the attitude of wanting to actually get to know them. It also helps to realise that everyone likes speaking to someone who brings something to the table / is additive. No one likes speaking to someone who makes them feel awkward.

Talk to girls queuing next to you at the bar (or any queue really). It’s non-threatening, usually quieter so you can hear what they’re saying, and has a natural time limit if not going well.

Yeah sorry to clarify, it depends on what you’re after. If you’re just there a few weeks apps and bars / clubs your best bet.

Just talk to her - if you feel the convo dying change the topic, no one minds (it’s better than a 15 pointless deep dive). If you think you should kiss her then kiss her, she’s thinking the same.

I had the same worries, the solution as you already know is - 1) talk to anyone day to day (no one cares, just do it) 2) Sit next to someone in a lecture and say hi - they’re just as keen to speak

As someone who did both toastmasters and improv (including a stage performance), I completely agree. In reality, it is just learning how to be comfortable talking and bringing something to the table. If you’re additive people want you there. Nowadays I’ll walk into an elevator and end up hanging out all night, or tonight a solo girl was playing beer pong and I’ll instantly say I’ll be her partner without any awkwardness. It takes time and you’ll hate the process but you’ll get there.

In reality confidence builds over time and is correlated to being successful in your chosen field. Everyone can spot an insecure pretender (especially girls). Also accept being a late teen early twenties is terrible for guys. Learn to chat and approach a girl when she makes it easy for you (Ie next to you in a queue for the bar, persistent eyes)

Hit Republica (queue a nightmare even with girls and money), it’s a tough scene to crack until you’re on the inside - most parties are at houses. Girls don’t use apps and hilariously status oriented and not impressed by money. Enjoy!

My friend has the same situation and feelings. The good thing is being older is half of it and you’re going to laugh at how easy it is. Literally go to bar, if there are girls beside you with open body language it means they are keen and talk to them. If girls look at you and stand near you just say hi and 90% of the work is done. This will be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Realise they’re humans too and it doesn’t matter if you say something stupid (though it’ll haunt you forever). We all find it awkward talking to strangers but if you want to be successful in any regard you need to learn.
