I don't hang out with only feminists and most of my actor friends are from New York. I think it's just becoming common parlance.

I don't think it is the subversion of language. I think it has become the common expression over time but has been given more prominence because of how people treat gender/identity politics. Similar to the use of the singular "they," it has a history but the frequency with which it is being used has picked up in recent years. It's just language doing its thing.

That's possible. I'm in the States, and all of the people I know in the industry are out of New York and Pittsburgh. Regional differences are reasonable when it comes to language.

All the feminists I know use the term "actor" as gender neutral. In fact, that's the most common usage I hear amongst men and women.
