But the study then goes on to show that a large number of those "proven false" reports are not actually proven false. They could be very real cases of rape where the survivor didn't report in time, didn't have enough evidence, or misremembered some facts. 1	Sexual Assault Misconceptions Well, rape isn't really comparable to robbery. I could make the argument that people will rob you out of desperation -- to feed their family, pay bills, pay debts. Rape is always an act of sadism. Also, as a side note, leaving your car unlocked DOES NOT increase the incidents of stolen cars.
