14	Today I saved a life. I once watched someone fall over on an escalator in a busy railway station. I was by no means the closest and while a couple of people ran up the still moving stairs to help her, several others milled about looking confused. No-one else had the wherewithal, so I stepped smartly up to the emergency stop and pushed it. Seeing that there were enough knights in shining armor, I continued on my way. One of my oldest friends made a good go at it and nearly made it but got screwed over at the final hurdle - he was slated to direct a feature film he had written himself, but some suits bent him over a bench and went to town, replaced him and the film tanked. On screen, pretending to be someone they're not, made up to look the part and using all those wiles to convince you of the story component they represent, they're fine. No, not other people, other characters, written by people trying to make a buck off the average punter, who in turn is not interested nor often even capable of recognizing reality.
