It is not valid to examine art, literature, and history from multiple viewpoints if one believes that each has equal value, or that each viewpoint is necessarily valid, especially when the value of each viewpoint is subjective, i.e. self-referential. That "Different people bring their own perspectives and viewpoints" privileges subjectivity and perspectival relativity over the existence of an objective and knowable universe. As to post-modern literary criticism, the fact that one of it's tenants is the relativity of knowledge and the absence of reality pretty much invalidates it. Post-modernism can have no privileged claim to describing reality as nothing can have a privileged claim to describing reality.
