I just want to make sure that if someone wanted to come up or sit down next to me and talk to me that my body language is subtly giving them the thumbs up to do so. That's the higher level. Go from chatting 1 on 1. Learn what people say in combination with their body language and their eyes. Later You can sit yourself in a group and observe dynamics there. 4	I am Emotionally Retarded You can read some books covering that subject. Frankly, the only way is to talk to whoever, whenever comes nearby about different things and see how they react. And a question: Do you really need to really guess their emotions? You can notice quite easy when someone is really sad. To best way to cheer them up is simply to ask: "What's wrong?"
