This stark reality makes me so sad. And in many cases, those kids need their dad to act as a moderator or shield (to some extent anyways). They need a safe place. :/

I hope you don't honestly think reading some Huffington Post, Guardian, and Washington Post articles constitutes "research," do you? What you quoted is not what feminism actually believes. Maybe the bastardized version of feminism that abounds in popular media believes in the complete tolerance of batshit-crazy females, but true feminism does not believe murderous women should get house arrest so they can raise their kids..
