Ignorant american here Why doesn't the rest of ireland release itself from the UK and become normal ireland? I always assumed the line was drawn because britian didn't want to give up control but it seems like there may be a portion of the population that thinks staying in the UK is the better choice?

What would your thoughts be on neither party being able to legally disengage (abortion) unless agreed upon on by both parties? There by once the child is born both parents are on the hook. This is of course barring all extenuating circumstances such as mothers health risk, rape, unknown father, death of father, etc... Edit: just to be clear I'm not advocating for women to lose bodily autonomy. This is more of a hypothetical what if scenario.
