It generalises based not on evidence seen objectively, but subjectively, in that it takes the writer's personal experience and applies it to ALL women. If this article had been an articulate and intelligent look at the under-representation of sexism against men in media coverage and public opinion, I would have treated it as such, no matter the publication. Comparing it to racism, for instance, it would be like someone saying "Why is it okay for black people to be racist to white people when you can see clearly that black people suck?". It loses credibility, and he loses credibility when he is making this point. Which yes, you should care about. For instance making a statement such as "On average, men have a higher conviction rate for violent crime than women" is stating a fact (one that I just made up and am assuming for the purposes of this argument is true). That is not to say it cannot be then used out of context, or twisted to make it seem that it would apply to all men, or that no women are violent.
