Is it really "feminism" relying on it or just some ostensible "feminists"? Honest question. My casual understanding of feminism doesn't involve built-in bad-faith assumptions but I'm open to changing my mind if there's some evidence to the contrary.

Like you I can imagine pronouns reaching an absurd level of complexity and becoming a burden. That is simply not the case for the vast majority of people. If it gets to that point I'll be the first to say so, but right now I only ever interact with two gender nonconforming people and one is a trans woman who uses feminine pronouns and the other uses they/them. It's not difficult.

No one is forcing you to do anything. Sure, there's social pressure, but there's also social pressure to smile and be nice and shake hands and not remark on someone's bad haircut, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. When someone asks you for a simple courtesy and you refuse you're going to hurt some feelings and look like a bit of a jerk. That's life. I've never once had someone call me "cis het" to my face but since it accurately describes me I don't think I'd object.

Third-person pronouns are frequently used in the presence of the subject. "This is my friend, John. He's an architect." To more directly address your complaint: If I'm going to use a pronoun in the person's presence I might as well use it all the time. It's not like it's a labor to use someone's chosen pronoun; it's like flipping a switch.

With that mentality I suppose you're an ass to everybody, then? Why bother respecting anyone?

Why wouldn't you use someone's requested pronouns? Like, it's so easy. With extremely little effort I can make people feel respected.

Objective truth doesn’t change based on opinions; that’s what makes it objective, right? Right. The problem is that we both think we have a grasp on the objective truth but we still disagree. When people talk about "differing opinions" that's what they're really talking about: Different ideas about "truth". If I didn't think I had a clearer grasp on the truth, why would I continue believing what I believe? What else do you want me to be specific about? If someone says they need higher wages beca…

Yes, I did ask for opinions, and yeah, everyone’s sharing their thoughts here. But honestly, denying what I see as the objective truth isn’t just an “opinion” to me. I just hope you can see how this cuts both ways. Like, if I don't think wokeness is a huge issue and you do, you're "denying my objective truth" too, and that's fine; that's how differences of opinion work. That's the kernel of a good conversation. I get the feeling you can't really relate, so arguing about it seems pointless. Fair …

Isn't everyone here sharing their opinion? You specifically solicited opinions. If I was trying to hide it I wouldn't have posted here. Tbh I don't know if we're talking about exactly the same thing. It would help if you could explain some of the ways it has negativity impacted your everyday life. I can't, but I accept that your experience might be different from mine.

Do you really think I'm "delusional" or do we just have difference in opinion? Like, why start off that way? I really can't enumerate any ways that "wokeism" has affected my life, for better or worse. The biggest issue I see with "wokeism" is that a lot of leftists/liberals become so bogged down in symbolic culture war stuff that they're blinded to important issues of economic justice. Yet I still find I have more common ground with those people than mainstream American conservatives. Are there …

The relentlessly negative tone. I was hoping to find a place focused on the social and emotional needs of men and how society can meet them. Instead I've found a place that is mostly angry reactions to women who say stupid things. I'm also socially liberal and don't think the "woke agenda" is a serious issue unlike a lot of the posters here. This is a defacto right-wing space and that's fine, but y'all should be able to admit that to yourselves.

Owning lots of cats isn't something I would do but I wouldn't regard it as "creepy" lol.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
