Hypergamy is a thing.

Let me explain it like this. I'm an ambitious man, who's worked hard, taken risks, and stuck his neck out for many years, and over those years I've developed a very strong idea for how to live, and what to do with my life. Through experience, trials, and tribulations, I've learned a unique way that works. This is now how I function. This is how I live. This is who I am. I can lead others, and take them through difficult terrain, because I have gone through that terrain before — but I've done it …

Out of how many arranged marriages is that? How many have ended in divorce?

Alexander Grace has a video talking about this trend, providing some data on it, and connecting it (perhaps surprisingly) to a trend towards Polygamy. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2zk7oJTcjQ

There's a problem with asking a subreddit who your "target" or "equal" is, you're implicitly asking us how attractive you are. And guess what -- we don't know! We aren't looking at you! And there's a second problem -- having a "target." Are you the hunter in this situation? No. You are the target. Go make yourself beautiful, and get out there. Be the target. Make your lips red like a bullseye. See who's attention you can get. Then you'll know who your equal is. Implicit in your question is a fea…

Try communicating emotionally. That means listening emotionally, and speaking emotionally. When she cries, that's like her saying "sadness" to you, and you can put your heart into thinking about how she's sad. Then you might get a feeling for where she is at, and other ideas might pop up. Our emotions and feelings are like guideposts through life. Being sad or happy means that other thoughts and behaviors will be more likely than others. If you are connected in emotions, then you will be more li…

I think the RedPill is fairly diverse, and although there are some RedPilled men who believe this: It's hard not to feel like the red pill concept doesn't support marriage. ...you'll also find those who believe that most of us deeply desire a deep, long, lasting (married) relationship with a woman. You might check out Alexander Grace as an example of this brand of red pill: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeY3vg1r0KrvuyPOi7T39eA

I wasn't— but if we aren't debating whether either gender has it easier, then maybe we've digressed beyond the original point of the argument. But on a positive note, maybe the world isn't such a bad place.

Here's some data on that: https://ps.psychiatryonline.org/doi/full/10.1176/appi.ps.201500547 The data looks remarkably gender-balanced. Which means that nobody in this debate is winning.

He also doesn't advocate using deception, manipulation and mindfuckery to get what you want. Neither does Alexander Grace, who conducts the Red Pill Interviews. Being a bad person does not equate with being Red Pill, just like being a Feminist doesn't mean you hate and manipulate men.

Nobody said JP describes himself as Redpill. Jordan Peterson is part of the Manosphere. Alexander Grace does the Red Pill Interviews. You said you hate men who are part of the manosphere and redpill. What do you think of Alexander Grace? What do you think of Jordan Peterson?

There are some real good ones, even in the manosphere. What do you think about Jordan Peterson? Alexander Grace?

I totes agree, and think this applies to politics as well. Republicans and Democrats seem to think it's ok to hate the other 50% of the population.

Because they want to end the war. The idea is that empathy ends war. When you use a label like "white nationalist" or "alt right shit head" you are creating war.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/01/20 11:06 PM
3

You're demonstrating the opposite of empathy right now, by failing to listen to what I'm saying. By saying "what on earth are you talking about", you are acting as if I'm being crazy. That's called gaslighting, and is a strategy to avoid hearing the person you are speaking to.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/01/20 02:24 AM

"Legitimizing" is called "empathy", and it's something liberals used to promote as a solution to war and Naziism. I'm an old Berkeley hippie. And your brand of liberalism stinks. You just hate. There's no love in you at all.

Apparently if Jordan Peterson and Molyneux agree that we need to help the poor, then both are alt-right. Because, you know, they agreed on something.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/01/20 02:10 AM

He keeps the wrong company. Right..... because we shouldn't judge people by what they say — but rather who they talk to. That's a horrible way to judge someone. The motive for that is tribal—it's to ostracize people who you don't like, as a way to punish them. You are trying to punish Molyneux by chastising people who talk to him, and that makes you want to ostracize Peterson too.

In politics, left means "change" and right means "order". Socialism is a big change, in most countries. But if Cuba were to open to a political debate, you might find that the left and the right were reversed — socialism already exists, and a conservative philosophy would preserve what exists. So going to capitalism would be quite the liberal route of progress.

Wait a second... your view here: He didn’t say ok, leave and she chased after him. ...doesn't reconcile with what he said: Both nights she came back It sounds pretty clear that she said no, and then took actions to get with him.

I'm a man (39). Around age 30 I started settling on two things being meaningful in life: (1) the work I do in my career, and (2) the family I create, which will create more people who will do good work, and create good families. Each person can choose whether to focus on family or career. The family you create will generate many more careers.

You're not going to date them, but you still get their attention, you get validation, and you can ask them for favors. If you are ugly, or unattractive, it's like you're invisible.

Have you ever seen a woman accept a drink from a man that she had no intention of dating? Or accept help, validation, or general attention from a man she has no intention in dating?

I think you might want to look into this idea of your masculine side bothering him. Do you know what specific actions are bothering him? Do you know why they are bothering him? Is it just the idea of you being masculine that bothers him? Or is it something that you do when you "act masculine" that bothers him? If someone is being bothered, and isn't able to solve the issue on their own, then they probably have some work to do, they are probably stuck with something. In these situations, if you w…

I think that Keanu's idea is that if your man can't handle you being masculine, then perhaps he's not strong enough to handle a little subordination. Or perhaps if he isn't masculine enough, then you are stepping into that role because it's needed. But I'm not really a fan of saying that the man should be masculine, and the woman should be feminine. I think you just need to get the right outcome you need. And it tends to work well for men to be masculine, and women feminine, on average, because …

I'm a male who grew up with a strong feminine side, and only later in life began developing more of my masculine side. I tended for a long while to date masculine women. Now I understand and appreciate both, and can understand and appreciate both sides in a partner. I find that relationships now are a negotiation, where we both have to decide when one of us will take the masculine or feminine role. Over time, you can try to develop this with your partner. However, it will be difficult if you are…

Hey man, you asked me to change your mind, and then you fail to actually engage with anyone who tries—instead of responding to them, you tell them to go read things that other people wrote. I'm not here to change the minds of anonymous feminist writers. I'm here to change yours. If you aren't willing to change your mind, then don't post a CMV article. Now go away.

How would you define the "changing social climes" that people are adapting to?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/19 04:21 AM
1

That depends on whether by "sexist" you include being nice to people of the other sex. For instance, giving mothers maternity leave isn't toxic. If by "sexist" you mean only being bad to the female sex, then yeah that sounds toxic. But being dominant isn't bad when you're with someone who wants to be submissive. So that's not toxic.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/19 04:17 AM

People used to accept that the world was flat! Think for yourself. Choose definitions that you would like to think by— not those that you think are "official." That way your brain won't be corrupted by officials.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/18 10:13 PM
3

Wait— you actually think it's toxic to do something benevolent? I suggest you reconsider your definitions, sir! Because the ones you are using are self-contradicting!
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/18 10:11 PM
3

Neo, there is no "official definition."
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/18 09:53 PM
3

That's not "the definition". That's your interpretation of a paragraph written in a wikipedia article, and my interpretation disagrees with yours. So I suggest thinking about what you actually believe the definition should be. How do you distinguish "toxic masculinity" from regular "masculinity"?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/18 09:51 PM
5

If that's your definition, then your conclusion makes sense. But that's a bad definition. That's saying that dominance is inheritly toxic. What a mind-fuck! Dominance is not inherently toxic. Is the winner of a basketball game toxic? Is being a leader toxic? To claim that dominance is toxic is to try to rid the world of winners and hierarchy. I urge you to consider an alternative definition of "toxic masculinity." Here's mine: Toxic Masculinity: Masculinity expressed in a toxic way. Which defini…

No, justifying dominance alone is not toxic. But thank you for quoting. Now we can see clearly the parts of the definition that you are ignoring (in bold): Connell argues that an important feature of hegemonic masculinity is the use of "toxic" practices such as physical violence, which may serve to reinforce men's dominance over women in Western societies.[3] Other scholars have used the term toxic masculinity to refer to stereotypically masculine gender roles that restrict the kinds of emotions…

No, that's not the definition. I quoted the definition from the exact article you linked—don't tell me to go "read the definition". If you really disagree on the definition, then please quote the definition yourself so that we have some grounding to work with. You left out the "use of physical violence" part from the definition. There is no single authoritative definition of toxic masculinity. The article you mentioned cites multiple opinions on it. Your view depends on a particular definition o…

Sigh, I think it's a common problem today to conflate all masculinity with toxic masculinity. You are basically saying this: Women like masculinity Some aspects of masculinity are toxic Therefore women like toxic masculinity But you can find toxicity in anything. You can have toxic air and toxic water. You could try to say: Humans like air and water. There happen to be toxins (in some amount) in all air and water. Therefore humans like toxic air and water But if given the choice, I'll take my ai…

No, that's not the literal definition. That's only half of the definition. I think you are only looking at the "masculinity" part and not the "toxic" part. Here's what's written in that piece: Connell argues that an important feature of hegemonic masculinity is the use of "toxic" practices such as physical violence, which may serve to reinforce men's dominance over women in Western societies. So he's not saying that reinforcing men's dominance (aka "subordination of women") is toxic itself, but …

That first one is a good book, by Robert Bly. Also inspired an educational class called the Mankind project that teaches men how to mature in masculinity.
