17	In the late 1970s, orchestras were composed of 5% females. By 2000, it had increased to 30%.. all because of blind auditions. When you don't see gender + are forced to make a decision on skill alone, there is very little bias. As I reflect on my past thinking - as well as my problematic instinctive thoughts today - I see how this happened. When women are skilled at the arts, there’s a tendency to see it as more quaint, by-the-numbers, “competent” yet too domestic to make an impact in any meaningful way. More like a hobby than a profitable skill. Men are judged differently. Global culture has always domesticated women’s skills, from cooking to singing, from tailoring to medicine. 40	Ain’t that the truth My favourite part was how Tuxedo Mask being useless became a running gag in the show.
