Lyndsey Gallant (@apocalynds on Twitter) said something similar that fits here: I wanna share something my therapist said about ✨anger✨ that blew my mind: "Your anger is the part of you that knows your mistreatment and abuse are unacceptable. Your anger knows you deserve to be treated well, and with kindness. Your anger is a part of you that LOVES you." (https://twitter.com/apocalynds/status/1269711325749563399) It's very moving, and very true. Stay powerful, ladies <3

Was "best friends" with a group of straight guys for many years, can confirm. I was seen (and treated) as a specimen, a spectacle, a punching bag, a trophy to show off to other boys... anything but human! Def agree with everything you said. Wise words.

This shit makes me so scared to live alone, I can't even live the life I want without the risk of some creep trying to take advantage of it... 😐

Absolutely true. They get pleasure from having such an impact on someone, even if it's bad. Took me so long to realize that the boys I used to be friends with relished my hurt. Good on you for leaving those people behind.

"While I wish 16 year old me would have stood up for herself, I do not blame her. I do not shame her. I just hold that little girl in my heart and commit myself to continue relentlessly loving and advocating for her as I carry forward." This is amazing. Protecting the vulnerabilities inside ourselves instead of chastizing it is such a powerful way of loving yourself as a woman, at least to me. Thank you for telling your story and writing this.

Some men talk about how women should value the fact that their bodies are lusted after by men when they don't want it, that they get sexual attention from men lots of times while men say they don't get as much. I don't understand that at all. Sexualization is not a privilege or a gift. It is dehumanization, is it not?

I agree SO MUCH. Even if one person in the friend group is good, they get stuck in an echo chamber and end up being just as sucky as everyone else through the months/years. "Guilty by association" really holds true.

100 times yes. So many teenage girls should read this.

One other thing I found out is that since they only take compliments from women, their egos rise A LOT when a girl compliments them. Then once their egos rise they see themselves as better than the girl and either put her down or treat her as lesser. Dealt with that a lot as a teen.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
