I agree that's not sterile. And that's also not how all circumcisions are performed. Most are done in hospitals by doctors, not ministry, Jewish or otherwise. I would also argue that very few female circumcisions are performed in a hospital setting.

I just read an opinion article on this issue on CNN. I was struck by this quote: "He's using rape to shut up a woman who crossed a boundary by speaking out of turn. That is unacceptable. " I bet you that if a man had spoken out at a Tosh show, he would have received the exact same response, and everyone would have laughed. Probably harder.
