A Female 'Firefighter' Shows Why You'd Want a Man to Rescue YouAs a career firefighter, I just want physically capable coworkers. In my perfect world we would just shitcan everyone who would rather be fat, weak, out of shape and unfit for duty than meet the standard. It would be hard to tell a female who missed a push-up standard by a few reps that she can't work when we also have overweight/obese men who are equally as dangerous. It hurts my heart for what I believe is the greatest profession on earth and for the communities we serve... or underserve. | /r/MensRights | 29/09/16 04:40 PM
Woman To Become First FDNY Firefighter Who Failed Physical Fitness TestSeveral months ago the FDNY dropped the physical portion of the testing process as a requirement. FDNY Fire Commissioner Nigro said this: “We still grade the people. You can still fail it if you go beyond the time, but you’re not automatically failed from the program,” Soo, you can make up for physical shortcomings with academics. Just show the fire you're report card. That should do the trick. http://nypost.com/2014/12/11/fdny-drops-physical-test-requirement-amid-low-female-hiring-rate/ | /r/MensRights | 05/05/15 10:18 PM
Woman To Become First FDNY Firefighter Who Failed Physical Fitness TestAlso let it be known that I share the same feelings for all my incapable coworkers be they fat, weak, male or female. Some people get all fired up about one woman not passing a test and getting hired as if there weren't thousands and thousands of males in this profession who need to get their shit in gear or get out. | /r/MensRights | 05/05/15 07:36 PM
Woman To Become First FDNY Firefighter Who Failed Physical Fitness TestThe most important and dangerous parts of our job involve physical strength. Just to throw some numbers out there a 24ft extension ladder weighs about 120-130 lbs. Now pull that off the truck and carry it on your shoulder (you're already wearing about 60lbs of gear) to the window where there is a civilian or firefighter trapt. It's also getting warm out so I hope you don't get faint. Now that you've done that there are other ladders to throw, hundreds of feet of hose to deploy and drag (after it… | /r/MensRights | 05/05/15 07:25 PM
Woman To Become First FDNY Firefighter Who Failed Physical Fitness TestYeah, I'm a career firefighter. You know who's not amused by this everyone-gets-a-ribbon bullshit? My wife, who as it turns out wants me to come home at the end of my shift. | /r/MensRights | 05/05/15 06:12 PM
Woman To Become First FDNY Firefighter Who Failed Physical Fitness TestFDNY is getting called out on their FB page right now. Check out the second post down about the department becoming more representative of the community. Doesn't sound like unanimous applause for their, "progressive," HR department. https://www.facebook.com/FDNYhome?fref=nf edit: wrong link | /r/MensRights | 05/05/15 05:54 PM
