If you follow the shelter all the way back to it's announcement it's basically NIMBYism. People were still protesting the shelter after it switched to all-women. From the article... "I do not find having women instead of men as a "win" at all," she said. "It's a lose-lose situation and will slowly destroy our neighborhood and quality of life." There was originally sexist rhetoric being used to protest the shelter though...people protesting were saying "won't somebody think of the children". But …

CPS and everyone involved get sued all the time, this is nothing new to anyone involved. Also, there is nothing to expose wrt to Title IV funding. Everyone knows that states/counties get Title IV funding for pulling a kid into care, but that is a far cry from what it costs to actually have that kid be in care.

So I just discovered this sub, so maybe I need more time to read it but here is my general response... "The Right" have chosen and were the first to own this in the online space because the pipeline into the right from this issue makes more sense. If something like the patriarchy doesn't exist, then systemic racism can't possibly exist because we solved all these problems under the law a long time ago (if 60 and 100 years for Jim Crow and women even being able to vote was actually a long time).

I would mostly agree with you. The internet gives a megaphone to the loudest asshat. I would say this sub isn't completely devoid of politics though. The follow-up to highlighting a problem is determining what to do about it. That conversation can lead to government policy, or not. That decision alone is a political one, nevermind the actual details of the policy.

You are misunderstanding their point. They are saying rp is taking a toolset and mindset that can only be applied to a micro group and expanding it to a macro group. Hence the response to the question what nuance is lost. You will see it said in these forums from time to time that the principles rp applies self selects for a group of women. RP then goes out and says awalt . This is the nuance that the poster is calling out that gets missed.

He did not release his methodology or explain the potential pitfalls of the user-flow which could be contributing to the results, or how modifying that user flow could've changed the results. The whole point of that section of the article is that people weren't rating each other based off of their personality but on their looks almost exclusively, which is why the graph shows the trend it does. They "confirmed" this when they combined the scores and only allowed a single ranking. The last line in that section is literally... "So, your picture is worth that fabled thousand words, but your actual words are worth…almost nothing."

Taken to it's aggregate extreme TRP describes supremely defective women. The methods advocated by TRP causes TRP to self select for these women.

I see where we're assigning value now. That was helpful. I don't know how you get around that though from a policy perspective though(speaking exclusively about government now). I see what you are saying with the Amerigocentric nature of the theory but I don't know how you keep people from misapplying a framework/theory/whatever. People will reference Shrodinger's cat all day long, but that doesn't mean they're referencing it appropriately.

Interesting...even in my cursory examination just now of it, all I see is discussion around the fact that creating over large groups such as Men, or Women is meaningless because you need to look at what it means to be a black man, or white woman, or whatever. I think there is value in looking at broad groups for trends (e.g. how deaths in the workplace compare for men and women), so I don't know that I necessarily 100% agree with the framework at the outset.
