She loved cheap ass furniture because it gave her more money to gamble away. She got to keep all that ikea trash, and as soon as I was out on my own I bought what I wanted.

And then when the next woman comes along wanting marriage, and you tell them absolutely not, she will ask you; "Who radicalized you?" "You did."

Moving into an apartment that has grills, unfortunately, but it's 10 mins from my mom's house where I can use hers whenever I want. She's got a really nice grill / smoker combo.

Bought good Tupperware, I plan on a lot of meal prepping due to working 60+ hours a week. I own a Crock pot (love that fucker) and an instapot. I've never used that, but my sister who has 5 children swears by it, so she's going to teach me.

I'm excited for when I get settled, situated, and actually get to buy shit I want. The first few weeks are going to be a bed and a chair in my space that's it lol

Not worried about the finances at all, even with a "bloated" fake budget, I can make all my bills with 1 check. I'm just worried about getting in a routine and waking up on time. My stbxw is 100% worried about finances, even though she's buying a house outright. Wonder why...

Therapy. Focus on being the absolute best father you can. Yoga. Weights. One day at a time, brother. Hatred and spite deteriorates good decisions made with children in mind.

Go ahead and co sign a brand new car for her too.

Maybe it's an orgy she's attending. Not your problem brother. Focus on your children, not your ex.

Lies / deception Gambling addiction I knew nothing about due to trusting her with finances (I know, I know) Mental health I was the one that files, and too be honest everything is extremely cordial. We're still cohabitating together and it feels like being room mates with a best friend. (How the last year of our marriage felt if I'm honest, just no sex.)

If she forecloses on the house it shows up on your credit as well. Don't be stupid. Make her refinance or sell and wash your hands of her potential financial woes.

I'm pretty sure when this is done I'm going to subscribe to the "together but apart" mindset. Long term serious monogamous relationships, but NEVER cohabitation.

With fake flowers I prefer them to be unique. Metal or leather flowers are so cool to me. Metal flowers you can put a few drops of essential oils in them and actually get the smell for a few months.

A mans value is not measured in height, abs, or financial prowess. I mans value is measured in his character, his desire to provide, and his standing in the community. Your BF sounds like a narcissistic boy, that's overdosed on REALALPHAMALE nonsense.

After 16 years of pent up sexual tension he might need time to process everything. He's probably just as confused as you are, and when men are lost, we tend to pull away, process, reflect, proceed. Late December was a while ago, so I'm not sure if it's all just processing time. He may feel guilty? Hooking up with long time friends is always a crap shoot.

How far away is the closer job, and what's the pay reduction? If you calculate your commuting hours into your "paid" time does it still make financial sense? 2 hours a day @ 270 work days in a year is 540 hours in a car a year. Is overtime available at the closer job? If you worked 540 hours of overtime a year instead of commuting, even @ 20$ overtime pay an hour that's 10.8k more in your pocket. You don't mention if you use public transport or if you drive, but also factor in extra gas, tires, …

If I may leave a suggestion, just because you're married doesn't mean you stop dating. Make time for each other, with kids I know that's a massive task, but try your best to show him you love him, and that he is your world. Write him notes in his lunch at work, even if it's a post-it with I ❤ U. I wrote on my interior garage door, "I'm glad you made it home, sexy" for her to see when she came home from errands, it did a lot for her. (Until she painted over it =/ ) Little stuff that makes him fee…

This is such a great post, and if it's allowed I would like to add my anecdote from a mans perspective, that's facing divorce. (Not a well received topic on this subject, so if it's inappropriate I'm sorry.) It's definitely a 2 way street. I was devoted to my wife, 100% bought in if you would. We were teased often we had a "childless 1960s marriage" I was perfectly happy working like a dog to provide, working 60+ hours week in, week out, in a manual labor job so she could stay home and take care…

Do not try to hide assets, what you try to hide can cost you 10 fold in court. However funny wolverines got it nailed out. You have time, you have a lot of capital on your side, use it to your advantage.

I'm hoping by giving her the house I can skate out with no alimony or assets split. My 401k isn't very big, so I'm hopeful I can get put relatively unscathed.

I'll start reaching out to them then. I feel like a woman in an abusive marriage where they have NOTHING to offer in payment. I make ok money, and I work like a dog (I write my own schedule) so I'll be able to pay them, if they take payment plans. My only assets are my truck I still owe money on that's worth more than I owe, my guns, my few guitars, and my silver stash. (100 ounces)

I've actually been very calm cool and collected in the whole situation. I'm actually looking forward to getting out on my own. (I've never lived alone, went straight from mommas to her place.) I'm not looking forward to dropping the talk on her, but it's definitely for the better.

There's literally nothing to hide, I'm starting from a zero balance. We've only had 1 account for 15 years and she did ALL the finances. Let's just say, I fucked up in trusting her.
