I kept moving until I learned more, Eastern Europe is a great place for figuring this stuff out. I would suggest Albania. You can easily get a 1 year visa as an American. After 3 years of not seeing my kids for one cockamamie reason or another, the court never cared about that.... just if I paid. I left the US. I haven't been back since 2012. Next year my oldest turns 18. I already have the plane ticket for him to come join me :D

Do something about custody -right now- I didn't and I regretted it immensely . Get some legal advice on how to keep her from leaving the state with your kids while you are still married. Some people her should be able to advise you, or get a lawyer if you have the money. If you wait, you WILL get the shitty end of the stick.

I've been living abroad for the last fifteen years. I've lived in 20 or so countries and visited more than 50. for Europe, try Albania (Sarande is a gem, but Vlore is also nice), also Turkiye is absolutely amazing. Istanbul is a completely unique city. Bodrum, Marmaris, Antaliya (Everyone speaks Russian there) Dominican Republic is dr. jekyll and MR. hyde. Let me second this advice. ^ Your kids know your wife, in some ways better than you. Likewise teenagers are natural skeptics, don't make a lot of statements when you talk to them, ask questions (even if rhetorical ones) Finally, kindness is always a good thing. You can divorce her, but also not just abandon her, if she allows that. Even if she doesn't, your kids will see. I teach high school kids. This isn't as rare as you might think.

Just an update for those who helped. I followed your advice and contacted: the state department, the Domincian central authority, the local police, the police in her hometown and the police in my home town. I kept all the reports and sent a copy to her mother. My son is here now. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. God bless you.
