This has caused me to rely on my friends probably TOO MUCH when I get involved with men now. I run every little detail past them which can not be fair or healthy.

I read these and wondered “what’s left then?!?”. I feel like every man I’ve met fits in one of those categories. I’m losing hope 😩

There isn’t anything about you that is unlikable! He could just have compartmentalized everything because he’s not open to distance. Or maybe he doesn’t want kids and you do. Or maybe he likes you but knows there isn’t a future for one reason to another so why give you that hope? Just because he doesn’t want a romantic future with you doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with you.

I’m so proud of you. Your story sounds like my life!!!! Very similar situation but he’s in the US now and I’m in Germany. Ive become his best friend according to him, and he likes me, but doesn’t want to, whatever the fuck that means. I’ve tried multiple times to end things and he or I would make contact after ~ 2 weeks. I finally gave him an ultimatum and he picked no contact until 2021 (vs trying to date long distance) on Monday. It SUCKS. I miss the companionship. But we can’t put ourselves l…

You don’t need to apologize for your opinion. I’m with you on the emotional intelligence aspect. Ive finally identified that’s what has been missing in the last 4-5 short lived relationships I’ve had. I asked a question about it in the datingoverthirty subreddit and the amount of people that didn’t know what emotional intelligence was surprised me.

I feel bad she invested so much time, but why wait so long to define the relationship? She should have had this conversation before prioritizing him in that way. He wasted so much of her time.

Like physically go with them? I would hope a guy wouldn’t fake results, that’s going to extremes to get laid 😂 I suppose crazier things have happened

Asking them for exclusivity and to get STD tested before you sleep with them. Guys in it for the wrong reasons won’t go through that trouble , or I don’t think they would.

Dang! Date 3 is crazy fast! Way to stick to your guns! I ask for exclusivity before sleeping with someone and typically an STD test, also a good vetting process.

A friend sent me this Ted talk when I entered the world of online dating after my divorce. It has helped! I’m very polite and my dates would last HOURS! This concept has truly helped me prioritize my time. Its not for everybody, but has been effective for me! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9jZHw7Wf0v0

A zero date! I (34F) much prefer these. You don’t have to waste 2-3 hours at dinner with someone you might know it’s not going to work with in the first 15 minutes. You can take the pressure/stress off of dating and ask yourself “Do I want to have dinner with this person?” opposed to the heavier question of “Do I want a serious relationship with this person?”

Do you want to be heard? Or just need to express yourself? I have the same urges/tendencies but have adopted the “write a letter I’ll never send” policy. I get all the feelings out and say everything I need to and put it in a pile to mail later. I find writing by hand more therapeutic. When I was going through my divorce I did the same but as emails I saved as draft (just like Katy Perry). Maybe try that route because I imagine anything you say at this point isn’t going to change him.

I prefer Bumble for that reason. Can’t get guys saying “hey” and expecting something to come of it. Unfortunately with COVID it is a lot harder meeting people in other ways

I feel you! I have a filter for people that mark “active” for their exercise level in Bumble. What some men consider active, does not match my definition of active apparently. It’s almost laughable

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
