I think some have different takes on this but - there is such a phenomenon that i just sum up and call it "the exile effect". If not clear by its naming, basically creepy aside if 1 is social enough and the recipient, all that they need be is not merely be made uncomfortable, but "talk". It's a lot like the snowball effect but in social lens it becomes more precarious - you may not be called creepy, but they put on their phone or start a 'phone a friend' kind of thing or do some communication to…

i'd say a little "honest humble" or 'homble if putting them together is that I am certain both sides have enough folks saying how they feel desperate. and yes we all know how it is an "anti factor" for the person feeling it. Point - you are not alone feeling desperate. But also - so much factors in dude...it's not the the bane of you so "this too shall pass" (like gas).

I'll get swords at me for it but- we can benefit a bit to remember this is modern society yet we are still not brain-adapted for dozens and 100s of rejections. Our human build and brain and framework of "being"...has not caught up to the modern "sense" of the world. No human existed before that had been subjected to what we are nowadays tormented by. 100 years ago or 50yrs ago a man in the age-range 20-40 trying to find a gf or a wife/lifelong...the "village effect" was real. It's social media a…

Yeah sounds about right. I have this lady and she's quite shy and reserved, but based on certain things I've picked up on from her doing certain actions it's made me think that she's not familiar with relationship territory. Especially when a 'no' can be seen/ taken as a rejection but doesn't realize that that was how a guy she got to know took it that way and not-coldly respected her choice to say 'no'...yeah no contact period started then.

what if they have also no experience with any relationships and seem to act like your interest makes them unconsciously do things that they don't fully seem to put 2 and 2 together?

Women have had so many hard times due to/ by men who haven't treated them well and they have now a list of things to carry because of said men. And it's already hard as a guy making friends with other adult guys around my age. So then how am I suppose to make you feel comfortable while still being "me" and balancing being present and aware of my surroundings, and just be carrying the mindset of 'i just wanna friend' without you seeing me as lonely AF - or desperate/ too eager/ trying to heard? T…

Not quite 180 from it but something I do is gym and watch tv on a treadmill. Seems counter to the social part, but at the same time I'm getting some movement in while enjoying some show(s), can be netflix, prime, or anime shows. Point is...I'm not always there for social just for the getting out of my place and finding a way to walk more. But I workout at my office gym 1-4 times per week.

I recently turned 29. Point is never did I try or try all that hard about the dating pool. I was raised to focus on job/ career and get good at that kind of stuff and life. In a lot of ways yes it can sound how it will to you...but I've learned the best thing - money grows when you invest it right....so when you find someone...you invest time and the reward is having a strong foundation for a healthy relationship - in the ideal sense. So....slow is probably 99% of the time best for both involved…

I skimmed here. I'm just gonna give no solicited advise here. Dude - therapy for confidence is your 1 and only serious thing I see. My confidence was literally unlocked for me. I got my shit straight when I saw a girl at the office after 1 wk of her joining our contract. I let things play out naturally and upon meeting I didn't see her as more than just a pretty girl but not into her...but those eyes pulled me in to her world. I just loved talking, back and forth. I can do that. It's at work, I …

As a dude...I have been historically shy and have shied away from a lot...even just saying hi. I'm still like this but now...I have a extrovert guy that's been a HUGE help the last 5 months and he's gotten me to get out my shell and now I"m more talking and saying hi and making short convos with strangers at work. But IRL...fccccck yeah that shit's tough. I need to go to gym classes I guess...I gym and all but I don't do gym classes, figure I'll meet *people* and learn better ways to connect and…

As a ... ambivert I get what you're feeling about being introverted. Just day by day remind yourself that it's not a bad thing. It's kinda a superpower. The world needs us/ you too!

I honestly just started interacting with her my plan started out as "oh I can practice doing good eye contact" and I did, seemed to go well, did it good # of times getting the rhythm of it for myself. Avoided compliments as that is not my normal. Playful teasing kind of comments, started using her whiteboard via tic-tac-toe as a nonchalant way to get things started...it's largely kept going and grew to drawing other msgs on her whiteboard. Okay well anyway late night and tired AF better to cap i…

As CrazyRepulsive8244 said though "probably lose your job" aspect really matters here...so we both don't want that obviously. So me doing nothing in that sense as you're implying couldn't seriously have happened.

I think this is valuable insight and a quality post. As a guy who wants to be a father and raise his kids in the future to be successful, I want to save this and give it to my kids in the future. Personally I feel this also applies to men when you flip it for the "energy/vibe matching" for the genders.

Well I can't say I understand that mindset, I do understand that that OK to have that and respect to you man for knowing that and not caring so much about others' opinions on the matter. But...just as a random online digit-zen..."digital citizen"...idk, all I want to point out is that if you never want a family this is one simple path. On the other hand, if you have ever wanted kids, this requires you to figure out how you want to go about matrimony and family making, well that's only something …

I've long while ago (idk maybe 3-4yrs ago) stopped using self-deprecating jokes overall in my style of language. But I do still struggle with the statement in particular of "I bet you get this all the time..." as I can see myself saying it again, and I've said it before a bit for sure...now I understand how and why it can diminish your value in their eyes. Thank you for posting this and appreciate the time you took to write it all down.

So...I'm just guessing based on the minimum I've seen here on this post, but do you consider yourself actually/ legit satisfied via the route of no strings attached which largely turns into not having family? It almost sounds like you're more than just noticing this trend, and maybe it's just me but I get the sense that you're kinda sad about the fact that you can't hookup because you don't want to really date and commit. Is that fair/ accurate? Not trying to be therapeutic but that's just my as…

Just throwing it in here after reading a bit of comment section, but generally speaking generations aside your idea of hookup culture is very centered on the type of population you have in a given area. So the culture in a region will drive how much the hookup culture will be active in that area. So more prudish areas wouldn't see it very active as a .... very basic example. Now in DC DMV area you'd see some sure, but maybe more would be initiated or searched by females and less my males I'd gue…
