Yes but the majority of people don't keep track of the prices of their items over time. Hence why you can constantly go get amazing deals at garage sales/estate sales/thrift shops. This has been the hardest thing for me. After getting divorced I went through a period of a few years where I just started buying shit. Now I've got a decent amount of consumer debt and have to discipline myself to live spartan.
