Replacing people with robots or AI is not going to be that expensive and even if it is expensive in the beginning it will be much cheaper over time. Look into the future of automation, its pretty interesting. I don't really know the feminists arguments here. I was actually referencing the fact that a lot of European countries birth rate declined due to increases in the standard of living. Still you make some good points.

Western governments don't need huge human labor pools if they have cheaper and more reliable automated/robotic ones to draw from. Sure they need people to consume and purchase goods but they don't need that many just a few relatively in comparison.
