Yes, you don’t know what she can do, so why risk it? I’d much rather have a busted ankle or two over being murdered.

That was not the initial argument. The initial argument was that if you feel unsafe, you find safety, no matter how. It was pretty well stated in the beginning.

Would you mind elaborating?

3 or 4 people have already pointed out that toxic masculinity means men are taken less seriously in abusive situations and somehow you come up with “that gives power to one gender.” That’s your take away from these comments?

What about my comment leads you to think that removing toxic masculinity makes things unequal?

How is that dodgy? If you feel unsafe, do you purposely stay where you are? You’re trying to straw man the argument and I’m calling you out on it.

Does that discount his feelings?

Oh, I forgot, we can’t have equality of genders. We have to treat women differently because they’re women.

If you fear for your safety, you find your way to safety. “Hey guys there’s a fire! I’m just gonna sit in my room since I’m locked in here.” See how dumb that sounds?

That’s essentially what toxic masculinity is. We get mad when women are treated poorly by men (as we should), but laugh when the roles are reversed. As if to say, “what a puny little wuss, can’t even defend himself against a little woman.” Edit: thank goodness for all the people who mistake toxic masculinity for weakening men to female abusers then try to talk about equality. Wow, just... wow.

This will probably end up buried, but talk to a chaplain. Don't hold this in on yourself. You are not at fault for any of this. Please talk to someone.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
