I went through a similar deconstruction process about a decade ago (2016, to be precise, hmmmm). I lost a couple friends because of I had the temerity to point out misandry when I saw it. You know what? I don’t miss them at all. Good luck on your journey to liberation!

There are no Buddhists sects that justify violence in any form. There are, however, military juntas in Buddhist countries (Burma) that do. Don’t add to the propaganda.

It’s a shame you’re getting downvoted. Your questions are intelligent and considered and don’t come across like you’re coming from a dogmatic position. IMO the upvote/downvote button should be used to indicate whether a comment adds to a conversation. Not just because you disagree with it. That said, I think what you’re arguing is true coming from an academic stance. But outside of that rarified space there exists feminist pop culture. And 100% it’s all about making patriarchy the bad guy and th…

Not only do we make it illegal, we place sex offenders on life time registries. What other class of crime do we do this (except for certain restrictions on felons in general)? I’m not arguing for against these registries. I’m just pointing out the illogic of people saying we have a “rape culture.”

Ha ha. No. I, a man, have been told so many times during debates around feminism with feminists (both male and female), “you sound uneducated; read x, y, z.” Then I produce my bona fides. I attended a very liberal university and studied media and film studies, which were HEAVILY post-Modern, Marxist, and feminist. And that’s when they respond, “my bad. Tell me more about that, I respect and value your perspective.” jk. Of course they don’t.

This is mainly an American problem. We are quite dysfunctional when it comes to gender identities. I am a white het American male who married a woman from Thailand. I've spent a lot of time there and talked about this issue with her and other Thais. From the outside, their culture is very macho and "patriarchal" (literally, as in they have a king). But from the inside, they exhibit a far more balanced, "natural" approach to gender roles. If you're a straight dude, you talk like a straight dude (…

I can’t speak for the average Thai, but I have a feeling they’d be very tolerant of your way of life/being. A funny memory just popped up. My first visit there was in 1996 and the cultural contrasts were manyfold. It was not uncommon to see young men walking hand in hand, even cops! I asked my fiance if they were gay, but she said no it’s just normal for dudes to do that. And you’d never see men and women doing that or showing any affection in public. Thats changed over the years, as they’ve “em…

Gender norms are perfectly healthy and even essential for a functioning society. I say this as a non-dogmatic leftist. But forcing an individual to comply with rigid standards is unhealthy and destructive. As a positive example I offer Thai culture. (My wife of 30 years is Thai; I’m American.) Thailand is a very, very conservative country. They have pretty strict gender norms, enforced by the very language they use. Women say “ka” at the end of nearly every sentence; men say “khrap”. Women are n…

I was a film major at a liberal university many years ago. It always struck me as odd how the professors seemed to cherry pick certain films to uphold their Marxist-Feminist theories. They often chose really obscure media too: very little analysis was proffered on blockbusters. That said , I was grateful to learn deconstructionist methods that, to this day, give me a much deeper appreciation of media (as both art and propaganda.)

I’ve seen leftists fail time and time and time again bickering over identity politics & refusing to work with anyone who doesn’t have the exact same ideology as they do. Oh yes, the old "circular firing squad"! It's my single biggest issue with the Left. They (we?) act like moral Puritans of olde. But when you think about it, this falls perfectly inline with what the Right wants. "Never interrupt the enemy while they're making a mistake." While we bicker over relatively trivial, personal concern…

You bring up such an important point. The Powers That Be, from time immemorial, have had to contend with the real danger young men pose to them, especially when they're organized. (Women were never a direct threat, due to social conditioning and weaker physiques.) Strategies to protect themselves usually involve overt methods (like involuntary conscription, polygamy) and covert methods (like social conditioning to mold men into mere tools). The latest permutation of a covert method involves the …

2016 was the year that I stopped identifying as a feminist and a progressive. It happened gradually then all at once. Women I knew and loved started posting sickening, horrible screeds against men who had been merely accused of saying something “sexist”. I’m not talking about men who actually did anything wrong. They merely said something which could be construed to be “wrong” by Leftists, usually taken out of context or heard second hand. I would wade into these threads with a sense of indignit…

As for the term "forager", I don't think that really captures pre-agricultural societies either. "Hunter-gatherer" seems more apt. Would you agree that, no matter what terminology you employ, these peoples were mainly egalitarian? It's funny. At the last company I worked at (DNA testing), we had hours and hours of debates over the use of the word "tribal." The guy in charge of content insisted we shouldn't use it. But then again "ethnolinguistic groups" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. We in…

I don’t think this is a correct interpretation. Patriarchy is associated with the advent of agriculture, which didn’t exist during the last ice age. Most of the tribal societies that existed for time immemorial were best described as egalitarian.

The “Honey you have a nail in your forehead “ video explains the underlying reason hilariously and truthfully. Women want their feelings validated. Men prefer facts and logic. Women in groups use rapport talk. Men use report talk. All sane cultures recognize this human condition and adjust their social structures accordingly. Unfortunately we do not live in a sane society.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/05/24 04:33 PM

That’s a very conservative take. I would argue it’s exactly the opposite. If you look at the social dynamics of nearly every indigenous society, their tribal affiliation grants shared rights and resources to everyone in their community. Selfishness and hoarding are frowned upon. But those same attitudes usually don’t apply to the other groups. So maybe their sense of “self” is much broader than our Western culture feels it to be.

It took me awhile, but the same arc applies to me. I lost close friends. But I gained some very important insights. Progressives have no idea what “ally” means. “We welcome any allies to the cause…oh wait, you need help now too? Sorry, can’t because you’re already privileged!” Feminists (of the white, American variety mainly) are master gaslighters. They are the most privileged humans in HISTORY and yet they still find things to bitch and moan about. And it’s all the Patriarchy’s fault! Ergo, it…

I would whole-heartedly support the draft if it was ONLY used for defense of our Nation's soil. Not to be sent off to kill brown people someplace else. Also, up til after WWII, as you are likely aware, the US did not have a gigantic standing military. The Military Industrial Complex didn't exist yet. Drafts were only used when threats were truly existential. (See: Ukraine c. 2022) I wish we could go back to those times; but alas, America is the hegemon. And nature sure does abhor a power vacuum.

I've literally lost friends and nearly became estranged from a biological sister. I've learned that I'm a Classical Liberal in most aspects, economically and socially. There’s a telling moment in Kal Penn’s wonderful Netflix series This Giant Beast That is the Global Economy. The episode concerns AI and how it will have to be given a sense of morality. In one scene, a bunch people are given tablets loaded with a fancy new “swarm ai” that basically learns from how people vote on a specific issue or dilemma. Completely agree with the premise (well, scientific fact really) that we're "wired" different and that we should respect, even celebrate, those differences. The thing I most struggle to understand about the goals of feminists is the beef they have with roles. They see any society-determined role as a prison, especially if it's gender-based. Having to give birth is considered a form of enslavement. Having a penis automatically gives you God-like privileges. Besides the obvious fallacies of those …
