Much respect to you for having the wits to have one. Did yall have kids? How did thechild support play out?

My answer to not believing in divorce is "Great! I dont too but thats exactly why we should have a prenup because it will be useless if we never get divorced".

You know what is common to majority of people who end up divorced and losing a good portion of their assets? They all thought they vetted their spouse. Unless you can see the future, there is no way to vet anyone. I am a totally different person from whom I was just 8years ago. Goodluck to whoever would have married me then thinking they could "vet" and predict who I'd become.

Thats not how it works in real life. You could be someone that is respectable and yet be disrespected. You have to make sure you set boundaries and lines that people are not allowed to cross, else you will be writing one of these sob stories filled with failed idealisms.

Dont worry, soon the only males who wouldnt be on these red flag sites would be kids. At that point, it would become useless.

Whats the cause of the divorce? I wasnt yet a teenager when my parents divorced. To this day there are a lot of things that went south in I and my siblings' life that I can say were solely due to the divorce. The person that suffers most in a divorce are the kids, not the adults making the decision. I am a grown man now and as much as I wish my parents could have fixed things, I know now they simply were not good for each other as I saw it myself. So, whatever you do, make sure y'all are thinkin…

If she stays not working for long and she divorces you, she will clean you out. For me, the deal breaker isnt so much the weight but the not working. Looks come and go. Even if she loses weight, a typical 30+ year old man/woman is just not going to be as physically attractive as the twenty year old version of themselves. Thats just life. So make sure it is just the weight bothering you because it would suck if she put in the effort and eventually lost the weight but you still find yourself stari…

My issue is why is it that y'all only speak about stuff like this when they leave? Men are the very ones bullying other men for putting themselves first. Yall are okay with subsidizing women's cost of living, sacrificing for them, and talk about it as being a good man. The only time any of you have a problem with it is when she leaves. Recently, Dave Ramsey was talking trash about a man who refused to marry a girl who is heavily in debt. Thats how men roll. They brag about how they let women tak…

I think it is because you still believe you have some influence over how they think. For instance, when I go on Twitter, I see a lot of irrational posts, even from men. I do not engage or try to argue because I know the world had people like that long before I was born and will continue to produce more of them long after. All I need to know is that people who think that way exist, and in some ways, that helps me recognize that mindset when someone acts irrationally toward me. It is the same way …

I am an avid reader of the women divorce group and many other women focused groups across social media. I use it to train myself on what they think of men and how to place myself first like they do. I am not interested in the slightest to correct or debate them. All I want to know is how I would be treated if roles are reversed, and to make sure I am acting accordingly. So sometimes, I go in and ask a question and flip it as me being the woman and get their advice and then go apply that advice i…

Why do yall ask these questions? I really dont understand. You know your marriage better than any of us can. We only know what you have told us, your version of events. If I were in a marriage like the one you have described, I wouldnt ask what to do. It should be obvious to you what that is. I would without hesistation do what has to be done. My focus and solicitation for advice would be on how to minimize the fallout from that.

It is always best to tell them the truth. Kids can handle it better than we give them credit for. At worse, say nothing at all about it rather than lie.

I am not deriding SAHM. I am simply saying that, in this day and time, it is too much of a risk for men. It was a good practice in a different era, one where social norms placed more emphasis on duty, restraint, and mutual consideration. While it may have worked well then, today, it can all too easily place the breadwinner in a vulnerable position. The reality now is that we too often see people's spouse act opportunistically with little consequence, be publicly validated for it, and still be fr…

It would depend on where you live. Some places view longterm cohabitation esp when kids are involved as a civil partnership, and you might still lose some of your stuff. Although, it's not as grey and white as marriage.

Its really up to you what you do and how much of a price you pay for the decision. You could literally just pack up and ghost. Could condition your mind to see it like she went to a sperm bank and you were just the donor, albeit a forced one.

With such an income disparity, she should be the one paying you CS if you had custody. Seeing as you dont, I would say you should be paying very little, if not nothing at all. This is where you get off reddit and get an actual lawyer.

She was not working. That's the root cause. I say it every chance I get, SAHM should be a deal breaker except you don't mind a divorce outcome like this. Everyone hopes their marriage works but no one knows tomorrow.

It will depend on the country you dated in. In some countries, your mere appearance/ethnicity places you at the top 1%. There will be no need for questions about wealth because just being from this side of the hemisphere answers that. Politics and ideology are not identities outside our side of the world, instead tribe and religion take their place for the locals of some countries. So, without knowing what country that was, one cant really tell whats at play here. Nonetheless, there is a whole d…

What's crazy is that often times it's men doing this to men. It is almost as though men believe it is okay for other men to suffer for no reason.

Thats exactly my thought. The moment a spouse switches to SAHM, it is best to cut your loses there and there and divorce.

It will take a long long while for there to be any change to that. At least not until men start making sure they collect alimony & CS whenever they can, and they do their utmost to only marry women who are of equal means or more. On one hand, we self sabotage ourselves by talking about love when women do financial prechecks before even considering to date a man. Men seem to enjoy giving their money to women on the altar of love, until a divorce happens. How many men who are yet to divorce even c…

What do you mean by the dignity to not be an ass and take everything? If they made more you would have taken everything and not thought about dignity. I encourage men to take what is due them because women always do and would if the tables are turned.

Get a lawyer and get everything due to you in the divorce, e.g, Alimony, your half of the marital assets and anything else you can get(Custody and C.S if yall have kids). Do not try to be the bigger person or give into your ego, it would only make it hurt the more. To me, there is no tragedy here. You got lucky.

"Get everything you are legally entitled to". Thats a solid advice there. Too many times do I see men play themselves by not taking what is due them in a divorce. Stupid ego.

Taking assets doesn't make you less of a man. They are just emotionally manipulating you. She is the one insisting on a divorce and its very likely that she would have screwed you over if you had more assets than her. You are entitled to a share of the marital assets, go ahead and claim it. If she wasn't interested in the possibility of ever taking your assets, she would have made sure to get a prenup. She implicitly accepted the potential division of assets in case of a divorce. Entering marria…

I would love for a spouse to out earn me. If it ends in divorce, at least I get out without losing half what I have worked for. Divorce court is usually after whoever makes the most money. So its much better to have your wife out earn you than have her be a SAHM.

If you know for certain you don't want kids, there is essentially zero reason to marry given the current laws in the west. There is literally zero upside and only risk. You can choose to have joint accounts, sign to have DPOA (medical and legal), and even have the ceremony and exchange names without signing the horrible legal contract. In the event of a split, some places treat long term Civil Partnerships pretty much the same as a marriage. So not signing that contract doesn't completely elimin…

Get a lawyer and make sure you take whatever is your right. Don't do the silly "I am a man, I can't be paid by a woman". The mere fact that she is trying to make you pay her alimony shows that she would take you to the cleaners if she could. So make sure to take every penny from her that is legally due to you by law.

Happiest people you know are not rich, probably because most people are not rich. The idea that being rich is mutually exclusive of happiness is just self consolatory. Money/financial security does contribute to happiness, it doesn't guarantee it but it contributes. Even if it is not happiness and you want to let go of money, you would agree that you'd feel a lot better to donate to charity than to be scammed off your money.

If it is up to me, I will choose "not good enough" over "money pig" or someone to be ripped off in a divorce. There is more to life than money but about the only reason we wake up everyday to go slave at a job is money. We put about 50% of our awake hours into just slaving for money. Money is not something to not care about, women know this and hence why they put it first.
/r/Divorce_Men20/09/23 12:06 PM

exactly! Making less is even better. At least when it fails, you only have emotional losses. That's much better than financial losses.

Why is it a godsend that yall had no assets to settle? Since she earned more than you, I suppose she would have contributed at least half to the assets? I think marrying up or at worse at one's financial level is the only way men can come out of divorce with less agony. Glad it wasn't as financially torturous for you.

You say she made more than you did. How was the divorce settlement? I suppose you were more fortunate than other men then. Did you get to split the assets, alimony or child support? Trying to see if men also get the divorce law in their favour once in a blue moon.

When I was as young as you a (male) professor at my University told me something valuable. Between Tears and Pussy women can influence men into things that are not in their best interest. My (long ago) 1st wife did that do me. Yours did that to you. This! I personally have female friends who do this. Hey there, I hope you don't mind me asking in a respectful way. I'm genuinely curious about something. You mentioned your girlfriend is 52, and I was wondering, does menopause not affect the intimate experience at her age? I've often heard that some guys go for younger women because of this reason. I'm honestly not well-versed in this area, and simply interested in understanding more. Thanks for being patient with my questions.

That's not foolproof. Prenuptial agreements can occasionally be disregarded or certain provisions may be ignored by the court. The court is not obligated to strictly follow the terms of a prenup. However, it is still preferable to enter into a marriage with a prenup rather than relying solely on blind hope.
