He went into it as a 19 year old kid and came out at 23-24 with PTSD, a divorce, a child and having personally killed 13 people. 1	Raised by a single Mum, what do I need to know that should have been taught by a Father? Lol I do BJJ and have done for a majority of my life and have been in several "street fights". BJJ has been excellent in incapacitating attackers. OP - BJJ helped me become confident, happy, healthy, fit and free of the worry that I couldn't defend myself. YMMV but for me it was a life changing choice to start training. In addition to doing BJJ I would recommend looking into Muay Thai - amazing workout and you learn how to do incredible movements.
