He was backing up the claim that the "women are wonderful" phenomena has an actual effect in society with "I read it somewhere". Wanting solid data and facts shouldn't be an issue.

Calling it an anecdote isn't really discrediting it. I'm acknowledging that he probably did read it, but I won't base my own opinion on the matter until I see an actual source instead of just believing one anecdote about it.

I'm aware, I kinda didn't clarify what I meant. Him reading it somewhere is an anecdote and doesn't really support any argument, I just wanted a solid study/source.

Perhaps I misspoke. Him saying that he read it makes it an anecdote and until proof is provided that the study actually exists, that's all it will be. I was trying to say that his argument was fallacious unless he was able to provide a source instead of saying "oh I read it somewhere".

Reading about it doesn't make it a credible source, it makes it an anecdote. EDIT: I'm getting downvoted so I should have clarified. Him saying "I read it somewhere" is an anecdote, I just wanted to point that out because it's a lazy and fallacious way to support a claim. All I wanted was a source which a couple of people have replied to me with.
