No train wreck here mate. I cold quit 6 weeks ago for 3 weeks, now i do a couple glasses of wine with dinner, 2-3 days a week. If it was a real addiction rooted in past psychological trauma, then sure, this could have ended badly. But it was just a phase, fun for a month on the beach. I chose when to start, and when to stop. I might do it again in the future... we'll see.

I kill 3-4 bottles of wine in 16hrs. Regularly. I dont do it at once. Not in 6hrs after work. All day long. Im not trying to work. I actively and openly avoided being promoted to management in my last job. They kept asking, I kept saying no. As a senior engineer, I can work 40hrs a week and still lead the team in meaningful ways. As a manager, I will be expected to work long hours for very little increase in pay, do even more bullshit paperwork, and really start playing politics.
