Well, the good news is that I have no interest in video games whatsoever, and most of my hobbies and interests generally appeal to people a little older than myself (I love theatre and the performing arts, classical music and indie rock, economics and politics, public radio, calligraphy, watching baseball, seeing good films, reading nonfiction and going to book readings and discussions)... I have a somewhat old-fashioned personality in a lot of ways, but it just feels very at odds with much of m…

This may have something to do with it. I try to keep it to the same couple days, but my schedule isn't very flexible (as far as balancing my work and personal tasks, getting in 4-5 workouts a week, cooking, getting enough sleep, etc. go as well as having a social life, I often only have one or two free nights a week), so sometimes it's a couple of days before I can meet. The thing is, I do work out, eat right, try to sleep a decent amount, take care of my skin, etc. And when I have gotten compliments from friends and strangers on the internet, they've been disproportionately nice to a degree that I don't think I can trust. My facial features are all kind of "off" in one way or another and I have glasses, which certainly doesn't help (I used to wear contacts, but my prescription no longer covers them). My ex preferred less makeup and actually said he liked the fr…

This is a good idea. I worry that I really will seem flaky, but there's nothing gained by not trying. I've been extremely depressed since the breakup so it would probably be helpful just to get out of the house and try to be social again, even if it's awkward. Thanks.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
